On very rare occasion throughout my life, I have had dreams where I'm in another place/time looking through someone else's(?) eyes. I had no context for it, but I >knew< "I" was laying in a park in Atlanta. "I" also got shot in Atlanta in another one, though uncertain of the outcome there. I have never been to Atlanta in my/this life. Quite curious.
I have recurring dreams about a city. It's not at all unlike New Orleans, where I grew up, but it's not New Orleans. I've dreamed about this place so often and consistently that I could draw a map. It's not a scary place, but there are a couple of 'iffy' areas. Anyway, it's very peaceful there. Should I go on a dream-quest to find my own unknown Kadath or what?
Oooo, very cool. I would be very interested to see what you come up with were you to draw it out. Who knows - maybe it'll be recognized by someone else and you'll get another piece of the puzzle? How amazing would that be??

I love, love, love hearing about odd experiences like the ones in this thread, rather unfortunate that it's not so active. I haven't personally had many paranormal experiences after growing up (though I had a LOT of them as a kid), but I love entertaining the idea of the unexplainable.

There is one experience I had as an adult that retains an eerie feeling about it no matter how much time passes. I was on a walk in a forest with my mom, I had a camera with me, so I was lagging behind to take pictures of whatever. We were on a trail, which meant I could catch up even if I lost sight of her. At some point, I realized I had done just that, and I started looking around to see if she was still around somewhere. I spotted her considerably further away than I thought she would be, and she wasn't even on the trail anymore. I thought it was odd, but we had a dog with us, so I figured he had just run off. Despite the huge leap in distance, I was so sure that it was her that I started walking directly to her through heaps of snow. Only a good 10 steps later did I hear my mom call me from the complete opposite direction. I moved my eyes from the figure for a moment, and it was gone when I looked back.

Obviously, the first thing that comes to mind is that that could have been a random person, however, my mom wears these very brightly colored jackets, which I saw on the figure plain as day. Frankly, if it wasn't for the jacket, I would've thought I was just being silly and not given it much thought. Also, despite the sun having set, the snow was still reflecting plenty of light, which meant that I didn't just mistake a dark blob for a dark blob. In regards to the forest itself, the trees are very sparse, to the point where there is next to no way for a person to avoid being spotted if they are walking around. Lastly, I am generally a very cautious person, I really don't fuck around with setting off in random directions even in small forests.

The entire thing left me with an incredibly uneasy feeling. It will forever remain off-putting that I saw the figure so clearly that my intuition, which was telling me something was very off, completely shut down.

P.S. If you see this, POST YOUR STORIES. I love reading them :gunt:

@Meursault's gun sorry for @ing you directly but it won’t let me directly reply or quote your post, I have some mildly interesting stories that happened when I was a kid. This is gonna be a long post so I’ll apologize beforehand

The first spooky experience I ever had was after my great grandma passed away. My aunt inherited her home and my grandma and I were spending the night there (which I already believed was haunted, particularly the attic gave off some bad vibes)
I woke up in the middle of the night and looked out of the doorway to the bedroom to see my great grandma scooting her way towards the bathroom with her walker that had tennis balls on its feet. Clear as day, like I could’ve walked up and given her a hug. I didn’t consider that a negative experience though, it was actually quite comforting lol she was a wonderful woman that I still miss

My second experience actually freaked me out, it happened when I was staying at a friends house. We were bored one day and decided to use a ouija board because the house she lived in was spooky as well. Used the board and asked if there were any spirits in the house, waited about 10 minutes and nothing came of it. Shrugged and eventually went outside to play in her backyard where there was an old well covered up by an old door. What was scary about it was that there was a group of probably about 15-20 blackbirds that were swirling around the well like a little tornado, we looked at each other like wtf? My friend got close to the birds to try to scare them away and they didn’t budge, just kept flying around in that ominous circle lol
Could it have been a coincidence? Sure, but as a kid who’d seen a lot of spooky shows that talked about old houses and wells (like in Bobby Mackey’s bar) I felt like it was a warning to never touch an ouija board again. As an adult I’d still never fuck with one anyways lol

And the third was another friends house where the atmosphere just felt malevolent. Never saw anything but could never sleep there, I always felt some sort of presence that made me feel like I had to watch my back. Always felt downright wrong being there. (And irrelevant to ghosts but I always thought it was funny, there was a mushroom that was growing out of the bathroom wall lol)
I’ve watched ghost shows before where skeptics say that this feeling could be caused by the frequency of air running through vents or some shit like that, but idk. Either way that house disturbed the hell of out me

That’s the gist of my ghost experience lol

@Meursault's gun @The Ghost of Rarity It sounds like what you guys experienced was a variation of the "Oz factor" or "Oz effect." The term was coined by Jenny Randles in regards to the unusual feeling and effects on the environment that people have experienced right before and during UFO sightings, but it has since been used in relation to bizarre "missing 411" type experiences as well.

Even though I am not religious I always did believe in ghosts as in a remnant energy theory as opposed to a spirit but fairly recently I am starting to believe again in conscieous spirits again, Recentley I went back to college and took a psychology class and he goes on about this dogmatic “pseudoscience“ “metaphysics don’t matter” (anything that isn’t dick suckery of carl sagan is a flat earther) but than he gets a little iffy when it comes to Ethics later after class I asked him if you don’t believe in the supernatural what is stopping us from reviving the dead? According to science dead is dead like, who is getting hurt? He got mad at me for that but couldn’t explain why we can’t. It’s because you need a some belief in some form of a soul (consciousness, ghost, ba, whatever you want to call it) to understand Right from wrong and being human.

I also visited Egypt and anyone who denies magic exists has never visited the pyramids or the temples

Now that I have my spark of life back, I have some other spooky but true tales for you.

when I was little there was this ghost kid in the school bathroom called sneaker boy, he always wore allstar high tops though. One time I was in there minding my own business when I saw him standing in one of the stalls he stamped his feet I blinked and he disappeared there was another kid in the stall next and he asked me if I heard it too.

I also had trouble when I saw blood on the ceiling, It could have been rust from a pipe or an animal that died but I op up the floorboards in the attic above me and there was nothing there just insulation fiber, someone died in the house but I don’t think it was him, my wife was pretty intrigued by it she’s just as much of a spookster as I am.

theres some other ones too but I feel like I said enough. For now

I was actually planning on writing a list of the different kinds of paranormal entities and phenomena that one could encounter in a “haunted“ location and how to deal with but I’ve been dealing with IRL stuff lately.

Wraiths, doubles, Imprint ghosts, presences, mystery lights. To name a few, At least in a modern parapsychological sense. You also probably will find squatters and drug addicts, those are the most dangerous.

I was thinking "mould" from the first sentence on this one and then you pretty much proved it. Mushrooms growing on the walls means the house is almost certainly infested with black mould, which can cause a whole raft of psychological and physical problems after even fairly short exposure. Your body immediately reacts if it detects mould in the air, generating a sense of unease and outright fear as it prompts you to get away.

I might've had my first experience with the paranormal this past Sunday. Although as time passes, I've started second-guessing myself. It felt very real at the time, but it could've been some kind of weird dream inception.

Here's what happened, for anyone interested in these things:

I was asleep and dreaming. In my dream, I had just woken up from an evening nap, and I saw that someone had written a message on the wall beside my bedroom door. Large writing, with what looked like black paint, maybe 2-3 short sentences. I don't remember what exactly it said, but the gist of it was "Don't go downstairs."
I felt sick to my stomach, like it was written by a murderer playing some kind of sick game, and I suddenly jolted awake. Almost violently.

I was lying in bed, and I felt 100% awake, but I had sleep paralysis (which has never happened to me before). And there was a demon floating up by the ceiling in the corner of my room.
My immediate impression was "Shadow demon". It was pitch-black and was shaped vaguely like a baby. Its body seemed to be made out of shadow or smoke, and it's hard to describe, but the "smoke" of its body was moving/flowing/billowing in place without making any sound or dispersing.

The demon didn't have any facial features, but I could feel it looking at me. Then it started slowly floating toward me. I felt an overwhelming terror. I tried to get out of bed, but I could only twitch my arms and legs a little bit. Couldn't even sit up. I tried to yell, but I couldn't speak either. I just started screaming "Help! Help! Help!" in my head.

The demon was floating down towards my face, and I felt like it wanted to enter my body. Like it wanted to pour its shadow/smoke down my nose & throat. But right as it got close to my face, it suddenly vanished, and I could move again. All in an instant. I didn't feel like I woke up from a dream or anything. It just disappeared, the paralysis ended, and I was still lying there in bed - still scared out of my wits.

And that's it. The end.
I know sleep paralysis with hallucinated shadowy demons isn't an uncommon phenomena, but I've never had anything like this happen to me before. It felt completely real, and I'm not exaggerating when I say the terror was overwhelming. I've never experienced that kind of extreme fear either. It actually made me feel ashamed afterward. My first reaction wasn't to try to stay calm or pray to God. No, I had no thoughts in my head other than "Help! Help! Help!". I feel like I've learned something unpleasant about myself.

I have family members who've had paranormal experiences before (seeing/hearing a ghost in their old home), and I always thought to myself that if something like that happened to me, I would try to observe and communicate with the entity. Turns out I was wrong. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think there's more to sleep paralysis than just the brain playing tricks on people. It's easy for Science™ and skeptics to dismiss due to the experiences happening when people are in a liminal state. I think there are nonphysical or semi-physical entities who prey on people while they're in that liminal state. For some reason, our "defenses" seem lowered when we're in that state.

It's interesting that some people are more prone that others to not just having sleep paralysis and seeing these entities, but having these experiences regularly. It's just like how some people are more likely to have repeated out-of-body experiences than others (another phenomena that skeptics simply dismiss as dreams).

water witch
I’ve seen someone do this, and I absolutely believe it’s possible.
She's 90 and it will die in our family with her
Please, please, spend some time with her and record her talking , take a notebook and write down her knowledge. As much as you can. don’t let it die! This is living history, and your history. I wish I’d done this with my grandparents.
As for folk medicine, yes it’s very effective for a lot of stuff. Almost all our drugs are (or were before the advent of in silico design) based on naturally occurring compounds. Our ancestors were smart. When we look at the concoctions they made, you often find they’re extremely effective against what they were for. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-020-69273-8
This for example is a thousand year old recipe for eye salve. Critically, it’s the combination of ingredients that does the job.

The only paranormal thing I believe in is UFO's and aliens
Statistically speaking, alien life must exist somewhere else in the universe. Now, whether that life is intelligent and whether they've managed to figure out how to achieve FTL are another matter entirely.

I am unsure why a civilization that has figure out FTL would bother anally probing cows and rednecks, and doing so via subterfuge, but here we are.

Concerning other paranormal stuff, how come nobody on the planet, despite billions of people owning a smartphone, on top of all the CCTVs and other surveillance equipment, both private and government/military, has not been able to submit irrefutable evidence of the supernatural?

Because the supernatural is very very shy. Almost cripplingly so at times. They're waiting for us to make the 1st approach.
