The phrase „CSAM“

Lately I’ve noticed the phrase CSAM has completely replaced „child porn“, and I’m torn on what to think about it. On the one hand CSAM feels easier to type out, since writing out CP always feels like it’d put me on a watchlist right away.
On the other hand, I also feel like it has taken away most of its emotional impact, almost like some form of whitewashing is going on. Not even sure what is supposed to be whitewashed here; is it that the phrase CP must be done away with because in the year 2023 porn in general has to be made an all around good thing? Or maybe it’s even something more sinister, people have started noticing that 12 year olds are already sexualising themselves on social media, and since the A in CSAM stands for abuse and there is no horny old pervert directly in the photos abusing them, kids taking „erotic“ selfies is now a heckin valid way of discovering their identities instead of troubling behaviour and borderline child softcore porn?

Let me know what you think, I’m sure at least one of my fellow autists has already pondered this in detail. There’s just something that rubs me the wrong way with the push of „CSAM“.

"CSAM" better describes the reality of the crime, it's not "porn", it's abuse.
So whitewashing porn? Porn industry is probably the most abusive on the planet, and the escalation spiral of wanting more and more depraved shit, until they reach CP, has been well documented in porn addicts. Same reason I hate how redditors call everything that is beautiful „porn“, like „food porn“ or „nature porn“.
It is pornography, sexual media meant to stimulate the consumer. Porn does by no means imply „not abuse“.

CSAM? CSAM is old news, friend, the new hot term is CSEM - child sexual exploitation material. To me, personally, in my opinion, not to discount any other point of view and taking all factors into account, CSAM was probably introduced by people with good will and CSEM is the whitewashing term for CSAM to soften the blow when discussing CHILDREN'S BODIES BEING ABUSED FOR MONEY AND PLEASURE. Of course the abuse/exploitation doesn't have to be strictly sexual. I want youtube parents to die in agony.

Its time to take a break from the computer, buddy.

I’d support CEM as a general term, we’ve seen enough cases where for example munchie mothers exploit their kids for attention and it has never ended well. Still a different ballpark than sexual abuse though and should not be mixed together.

I might very well simply be reading too much into this, but in the last 10 years or so, whenever there was a push to change definitions and words, there was an ulterior motive behind it, so I was curious if others had thoughts on this. Maybe it just really is because the people pushing this change view porn as something that is always positive, though.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of brainlet normies that think things like Cuties or child pageant shows etc are not exploitation. I fear that putting them under the same umbrella as child porn with a term like "CEM" would enable reactionary pushback and harm more children in the long run.

I don't know what the final solution should be. Some people know child abuse when they see it, others have brain damage.

It's a psyop by Big Pizza to improve cheese pizza sales.

I really don't know, but one idea I had is maybe it's to do with making the category broader, as maybe people have made stuff which still clearly involves the sexual abuse of children but "technically isn't CP". In other words, best case scenario is the change is to avoid a specific annoying legal wordplay technicality when attempting to convict paedophiles.

Yeah, man. A thot posting her nudes on OnlyFans and a child being raped in front of a camera is pretty much the same.
And Playboy is a dangerous gateway drug and needs to banned. Once you read it you'll soon become addicted to CP and troon out.
