This was probably discussed when this came out in 2023, but the reason I'm showing this now is because I saw a post on Twitter recently where TIFs were gleefully cheering that the show's producers came out and showed this poster of the characters for pride month. 2 non binaries and one TIF. The TIF character in question is name Teddy. However, I did notice a few comments by TIFs who were angry that despite the producers showing this poster, there have been 0 episodes ever revealing Teddy being a trans man. So what gives? Why would they bait their trans viewers in 2023 with this but decide to do nothing two years later? Hell, I looked up the show and it has a TIM character in it, so why bait their viewers?

Teddy’s entire character is being an incredibly dumb handyman/barfly. Making him trans wouldn’t really add anything and would probably confuse the 90% of viewers who have Teddy’s in their lives.

I’m pretty sure whoever made that wasn’t baiting but making a joke somewhere beneath the inclusivity bs. The thing about Bob’s Burgers is that it was made in the John Waters image of drag, a lot of the characters are voice acted by people of the opposite sex as the characters. So take the mom, the joke behind her sing song jokes and over the top imagination is that she’s really a man in drag.

For people who can’t tell the difference between fiction and reality, most of the humor is entirely lost and so they take all of the nonsense as some type of political message and latch on to gags like shown.

It’s not tragic in the same vein as abuse but it’s kinda of sad. Since the mid 2000’s, having a yaoi phase in middle/highschool isn’t uncommon among anime nerd girls, and they used to snap out of it. I remember me and my friends realized it was dumb our first anime convention, instead of meeting other fan girls and having a good time, we saw fat kingdom hearts players making out on the floor and any sort of ironic humor we had from the yaoi paddle meme went away.
