Megathread The Pooner Zoo - A thread for collecting wild Pooners and posting OC Pooners, and anything Pooner related

The ones about deciding to not have kids and then naming yourself after what you would have called your imaginary son was a new one on me.
General advice (not just for troons but for anyone who needs a name change for any reason): This is the worst way to pick a new name for an adult, because it screams "this is not my real name, I named myself according to recent trends." A person should look up the popular names around the time of their birth year if they don't want to sound like a very obvious cringe weirdo. (Gender people are obvious cringe weirdos by definition though so do whatever I guess lol)

What's it with pooners and trying to be goth? Goth is one of the hardest things you can be as a straight man, you keep having to explain that you just like 80s music and have fuck all to do with teenage girls who write fanfiction. Or the creepy BDSM faggots who actually are in the subculture proper, or convincingly pretend to be.

If you always just liked the music, it's a right pain in the ass to deal with. If you don't even actually give a fuck, and want to be a man then why, why the fuck would you choose that subculture instead of something like hard rock or death metal? Ah yes, of course. You're an autistic woman trying to cling onto whatever shreds of femininity you get to keep as you claim to be a man because your autistic brain's definition of masculinity is "played warhammer once, liked it".

Sounds like edgy women who just want to be anime boys. Notice how none of them will just pick John. Or even an unisex name like Ashley. No. It's always LARP shit. I don't have an autism puzzle piece big enough for this shit.
Most of the goth dudes I knew were pretty fey and GNC, maybe pooners see it as a sort of middle ground? The rock boys I knew were usually a lot more classically masc and that's a harder thing to achieve if you're starting (and finishing, let's be honest) from the position of womanhood.

This is going back 20ish years though, maybe modern goth bois are different, idk what the kids are into anymore really. Just my 2¢

:like: because that's actually fair, the average (actual) goth will be of slight build, will wear makeup, that kind of thing. They won't be gay anime boys, but they'll be indeed pretty twinkish.

And then there's the whole thing about the pretend goths like emos, who are just full 100% twink while being edgy anime niggers who listen to screechy music.

Maybe pooners are trying to emulate the latter, though it does puzzle me why a bunch of them even listen to post-punk if that's the case. Might be as simple as actual darkwave like She Past Away being a little popular on TikTok though.

Sissy-phus! Wonderful.

I dunno, I like to go to Whitby and some of those goth lads are UNITS. Not terribly fey. Some look like they'd feed a vampire for a week.

What's the Lore Behind Your Name? /r/ftm

Lots of Theodore, Jaspers, more arabic names than I expected. Might be recent because of palestine?

The ones about deciding to not have kids and then naming yourself after what you would have called your imaginary son was a new one on me. I did the standard naming yourself after a fictional character route.

If we're talking pooner names, the overall pattern does seem to be names from the current top 100 and/or those that sound soft, non threatening and could possibly be interpreted as gender neutral (especially if the pooner in question can't commit to the identity of "man" and is a he/they). Those that pick names you'd expect on a boring average grown man are incredibly rare.

Pooners choose names that are either ridiculous and made up or they go for the faggiest, weakest appellations imaginable. Those soft names are the ones a boy would curse his parents for giving him, and demand to called by his middle name instead.

Little pooner asks if she is passing. But don't worry, the reddit hugbox is there to quickly tell her how cool her style is and that she in fact looks like a posh British young man!

Pretty sure that's a women's blouse and waistcoat, not to mention the necklace or silk scarf.
It's an actual men's (Or boy's) waistcoat, she's just wearing it like an idiot (Those are women's overcoats she's wearing, however). It's supposed to cover your shirt and meet the top of your pants. And like a suit jacket, the bottom button should be unfastened.

Her pants are sagging too low. Could she not find pants that fit? Was she worried fitted pants would show her feminine hips? Or is she autistically focused on guys wearing their pants low, not realizing that casual wear is worn differently than formal wear?

This is the ftm equivalent of mtfs who try to dress as some anime goth manic pixie girl. Its a feminine view of masculinity entirely informed by media made by women for women.

I lost it with the cane.
