I would say the terf option, because the troon option avoids getting to the actual heart of the issue which is impressionable people being convinced that they need to do harmful things to their bodies in order to be their truest self. There needs to be a third option because most of the detrans I see use the “I’m permanently mutated” stuff as an excuse to feed their histrionics. Tell anyone with low self esteem that what they thought was going to fix them was actually going to ruin their life and people snap. It’s why it’s easier to con someone than convince them that their true love in Europe is just some catfishing scammer. I don’t know how one walks back from that, it’s on some level worse than recovering addicts because atleast junkies know why they did what they did.

I've had a couple of run in pooners, it's not like i hate them or anything but many of them just show soo many signs of mental illness (no surprise there) its lowkey worrying.

Pooner Story Number One:
we'll be calling this person Dragon bc they made an obsessions with dragon's at the time. I met through a friend of mine in a writing discord server we were both in at the time, this server had a minecraft server (maybe a red flag idk).
So you're probably wondering 'but brown what was their deal?!'.
To Summarize they:
- Claimed to be apart of a DID system (I'm not too informed about that stuff while i do believe they had some form of mental issues) and some of their alters were streamers from the dream smp (should've note that this was around 2020-22)
- Had someone aplogize to them for killing a minecraft bee infront of them, claiming it triggered them.
- Left said writing server bc another member chimed in about some bathroom shit and called said member a "cisgender man".
Even though they were a mess i lowkey miss them, hope they got help bc they did made me worry and very clearly had very low self esteem issues.

Pooner Story number two:
Let's call this person Ali. I met them in this exact same server as dragon. Ali also claims to have DID
What was there deal:
- They are mainly known around the server to self ship themselves with William Afton (I'm in no way judging them bc i too self ship and afton isnt real yada yada) but they suffer heavy from TDS and thus make/drawn their sona only kill bigots/trump supporters bc they are too much of a pussy to make their sona 'irredeemable'. (i can probably share those pics but might delete them after a bit but idk)
- Uses the term "Cis Men" is a 'derogatory way' despite being married to one themselves for a long time (Should also note that this person is in their 30's so this isn't some le quirky 21 yr old)
- Has a step dad/daddy kink (i'm not gonna lecture or argue with anyone about this bc that's a waste of time for everyone here) and often writes her sona and afton with this said kink
- Complained about the lack of heckin valid uwu dood characters in gay porn bc gay men don't view pooners as 'real men' (YOUR SO CLOSE TO FIGURING IT OUT ALI)

That third option already exists and it's to log off, stop engaging with tranny stuff outside of careful participation in a relatively objective support group (i.e. not Reddit), and busy yourself with real things until you grow an internal locus of control. There's no set of beliefs that can be plugged into a detranser's brain to make them less crazy, because no matter where they go, there are people willing to stoke their worst tendencies to prove a point.

Just because you quit actively harming yourself, doesn't mean you're done -- you've plugged the leak, sure, but you're still up to your knees in water. Detransing is step one. Regardless of who told you to do it, the fact that you thought it at all necessary to shoot up bathtub HRT and give all your friends pronoun homework (lest you literally die) should tell you that it's not enough to merely stop; there's still a lot of work to do. It's hard in an ideologically poisoned society, but that's no excuse to take the easy way out and start a Twitter grift account.

It’s sad watching detrans people swing from one extreme to another. They just find a new set of people to hype them up. I think their voices are important and I don’t blame them for making a little bit of money off of their stories, especially if they have a unique name…who wants to hire an adult who willingly mutilated themselves and will probably need extra time off for medical care? Red flag city.

I imagine losing all of the people you thought supported you sucks ass, not to mention the apology tour you have to go on to get your family to trust you again, and some things just can’t be unsaid. It’s embarrassing enough when you get caught failing your New Year resolution a week into January, imagine going on a multi-year campaign about this thing that you definitely totally need or you’ll die and OMG YOU GUYZ JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND, only to come back with “So hey…you were right” years later. I’m cringing just thinking about it.

I hope the organizations that sprung up to stop the troon menace pivot to helping these people move forward with their lives. I’m worried these mentally unwell people will just fixate on making themselves whole again, but after the surgeries, their bodies will never 100% be the same, so they’re just falling into the same trap again. And the last thing I want is the yeet the teets MFers to make money installing silicone.

I think you guys are right about logging off being the best solution here, however their surgery scars signal to predators “I make very bad decisions, please take advantage of me!” They have a tough road ahead.

I don't know what study you're talking about but what I know comes mostly from lawyers who had to handle these cases and a rather honest women's shelter worker who told us lesbian were a disproportional amount of the people there and it was hard to handle those cases because cops only showed up to arrest abusers at the shelter when it was a guy, they didn't do shit when it was another woman.

Rowling has personally funded cases on her own, and there’s been crowdfunding for Sall Grover, Gays Against Groomers, Genspect, Sex Matters, etc. It’s not as profitable as defending troon shit (ACLU, SPLC, GLAAD, Stonewall, pharmaceutical companies, the entire fucking Democratic Party) but there’s political will and some money involved. It’s going to take a long time to unfuck pro-troon shit in laws, this would be more of a side project for these orgs than anything.
