I know some guys IRL that want to attempt this kind of thing at my university. They are athletes, otherwise cool guys, but one has admitted he was abused as a kid and has a hair trigger. I've tried explaining that their "plan" (catfish pedos then jump them) is potentially a legal nightmare but they seem unbothered. One of the guys in the "group" has said he is gonna get drunk before the "catch" so he can be "ready to fight."

Luckily they are too busy with sports and partying to actually do what they want to but man I swear if they actually go jump random pedophiles they will end up in jail, especially if they are liquored up and seeking a fight, and that's assuming they don't get shot or stabbed.

The tap is a way to show that you're interrested() without sending messages.

That would be entrapment. The guy wasn't going to do it until the decoy harassed/coerced him into doing it. Congrats, Predator Catcher, you just let the guy off the hook with obvious entrapment.

You could argue that minors on the internet can be promiscuous and very pushy. While it is true, predator catchers are like this because they want to catch as much people as possible. Some catchers are able to find (meet and expose on video) a predator a day! While there are a ton of creep online those numbers are crazy.

They are at their worse however when the catch is a RSO or someone important. They are willing to do anything just to catch them. Using 3-4 decoys in a row to catch them, sometimes sending alledged cp and when the pred doesn't take the bait or just show up to their workplace/home to expose them.

That's what Hansen did to a judge and he shoot himself in the head.

Yeah, the Hansen thing was the guy didn't want to meet up, and was harassed by the decoy, finally said he would meet up with the kid. Guy didn't show up to meet the kid, so they went to his house with a camera crew and he shot himself. NBC had to pay out a 9 figure settlement for it, too.

As awful as pedos are, if you're gonna do this shit (you shouldn't), don't fucking meet up with them. Send all the data you collect to the police. Let the police do their job, don't mix entertainment with law enforcement.

Recently, I've been watching all the videos of Colorado Ped Patrol. They follow the format, but I think they're head and shoulders above the rest. The main guy has a backstory where it makes sense he would be doing this. They're very professional, don't go out of their way to be insulting, and so on. Their focus is on getting the predator help, but they call the police nearly every time now. It's rare that they don't, but I'm sure they may still refrain if the person was honest and the chat logs didn't have enough for a conviction.

I think Colorado may have different laws than the rest of the country, because the police always arrest the pred instantly, take the binder or decoy phone, and then the person is prosecuted. I think some of their earlier catches have gone through the court system as of right now.

My biggest problem with it is that it seems the majority of the financial supporters of his channel are victims or child sexual abuse. They seem to be really suffering, but not getting help. The comment section is filled with users who have channel memberships going back months. I get the sense that a lot of people paying into the grift are trying to escape real pain, and this is their way of trying to soothe themselves. It's super sad. It's like the audience thinks only the preds need help.

Catchers always use this excuse.

I think it has less to do with them being in the right and more with lawmakers not having envisioned that civilians would entrap civilians.

Yep, the catcher wouldn't be legally responsible, but that whole chat log and case would be thrown out and the predator (and any watching) would learn.

Then there's also the case where the catcher could identify the wrong guy (i.e. they're meeting up in public and he starts badgering someone who had nothing to do with it) or just doctors chat logs entirely. Basically, there's zero oversight.

No one here is defending pedophiles that I have seen. The issue at hand here is that these people are making it hard for LEO's to do their job and nothing ever comes of the catches. Most of the time they don't even bother to call the cops. That nigger posted last night who slashed tires before starting a chase on a public road is a perfect example. He commits crimes for views on his Youtube channel and the pedophiles face no repercussions (outside of having to replace their tires and rims)

I do hope you would have a different tone had this caused a car accident.

To add to what @InwardsStink said, what happens if the guy they put on Youtube isn't actually the person in the chat log, or what if they doctored the chat log to make him look like a pedo? How would you like to be walking down the street and suddenly some spaz starts filming you and calling you a pedo, grabs your phone, and then calls your mom to tell her you're a pedo, all because he was expecting the pedo to be there at that time and you just happen to be there instead?

i admit that i LOVE these predator catching videos..my favorite being predator poachers, colorado ped patrol, and people vs preds..its all so ridiculous and over the top. that said, the dynamic i find absolutely fascinating is the one between the much older women viewers that openly lust after these barely legal "catchers", and i wonder if anyone notes any irony about this. most of their money is really from these lonely older ladies who want a shout out during their lives, or a mention after the catch is over, etc. 3-4 years prior, they would be considered predatory in their behavior.
anyway, i think a lot of people are being mislead anyway, because these "arrests" are generally just the guy being taken in for questioning, and released.

I haven't seen any defence on here for the dumbass predators that get caught. My gripe is the whole method of how they do the catch. Obviously all these "organizations" have some script they follow during the catch(i.e. Ask the predator why they are attracted to minors, what would happen if the minors parents showed up, etc). The question script solves absolutely nothing and usually gets the same results: the pred standing there saying stupid shit like he knew it was a trap. I'm in the camp of sit back and watch either a pred or a vigilante get hurt because I know most of these preds don't even go to court or even get a case against them.
