The Real Game Awards (2025) - Troons getting BTFO for real praise

Sidescrollers, GoonerGate and TRGA are proof that everyone looking for alternatives to the mainstream are going to be scammed no matter what. Even if you agree with what these jackasses say about how the mainstream industry is in a shitty state, they've given way too much evidence to prove they aren't the kind of people you should flock towards for advice, let alone finding alternatives.

Do your own research, find games that interest YOU, and don't be a retard looking to get your opinion from people whose popularity thrives off controversy and drama like I did for the past 3 years until I started lurking here

I believe most are smart and wise enough to want more than just the current form of mainstream media, but with an anti-woke flavor as opposed to something genuinely opposed to woke shit. Plenty are in a bandwagon phase about hating journalists and SJWs on the left, but most people are used to bible thumpers and are even faster in denying them the time of day, especially when they're the least socially acceptable moral busybodies out there.

Alright I'll admit I didn't know that, in that case the tranny is just batshit insane in asking for his game to be removed from the reward. I do wonder in regards to the advertising that Selaco game if it would have been better etiquette to get their permission before advertising their game.

I mean; the Game Awards have much more clout in the industry (especially with the host schmoozing up to the developers and publishers), so they are able to get away with doing that, despite how stupid the notion is when you think about it. For comparison, (at least on the Academy Awards), it requires the copyright holders like the studios and distributors to nominate their film for consideration.

Plus, there have been notable instances where academy award winners refuse the trophy, like Marlon Brando when he refused the best actor award for The Godfather. It's not as batshit insane as you think to refuse an award.

At the end of the day the only opinion that matters when it comes to gaming is your own. No one can decide your game of the year, YOU choose your game of the year. Space Marine 2 or Stellar Blade would be mine, not black shit wukong.

On another topic…

Best Story
  • Black Myth Wukong
The story was pretty much non existent unless you read the novel. The big twist was obvious.
5:10 - Best Racing game
  • Parking Garage Rally - 15%
  • Nightmare Kart - 54%
  • Victory Heat Really - 31%
Why even have the category when the genre is dead?
6:40 - Best Sports Game
  • EA College Football '25 - 19%
  • Rocket League - 51%
  • WWE 2k '24 - 19%
  • Harry Potter Quidditch(the host, Stuttering craig called it Harry Pottidge Quidditch) - 10%
What's the point of listing a decade old game?
8:40 - Husbando of the year... presented by some v-tuber
  • Kiryu Kazuma(Yakuza) - 20%

It's a 2 year old game and Echo Point Nova is way better.
13:37 - Best Gaming Company
  • From Software(Dark Souls/Armored Core) - 49%
  • Shift Up(Stellar Blade) - 22%
  • Team Asobi(Astro Bot) - 25%

Oh yeah the company that's one game away into turning into the new Bethesda, which released a shitty overpriced DLC.
18:20 - Worst Bait And Switch
  • Helldivers 2 - 34%
  • Star Wars Outlaws - 16%
  • Concord - 8%
  • Dragon Age Veilguard - 42%
There's no real Bait and Switch when just looking at the game it's shit.
28:30 - Best Nintendo IP
  • Mario - 32%
  • Legend of Zelda - 55%
  • Pokemon - 10%
  • Splatoon - 3%
Reminder Nintendo didn't do a good game in nearly a decade.

Not that bad surprisingly. I feel ashamed for knowing most of the hosts.

Honestly for me Suicide Squad is a bigger failure in my eyes than Concord. Besides wasting a ton of money and time Sony is fine and the Ponies still flock to the PlayStation. But Kill the Justice League destroyed not only a fan favorite game series but a developer people trusted. Then also being one of the last products with Kevin Conroy as Batman before he died only to kill him off like a bitch. Especially since that Batman was the same one we had been playing in all the Arkham games.

Idk maybe it’s me but that seems more damaging than Modern Sony continuing to be modern Sony. SS was Rocksteadys first game since Arkham Knight, which still looks and runs better on old systems than most new fucking “modern games”.

Yeah buddy. Are you aware the workshop is up and running now? I haven't tried any yet but there's a collection of handpicked maps by the developers so one would hope they're guaranteed quality.

These are all community picks so it's possible they just never really gave a damn outside of what is basically a glorified strawpoll, they didn't really give a damn outside of going "ha ha we're calling Dustborn/Concord/Dragon Age bad!". Which they are but at some point why even care about these games, they don't deserve it.

One thing to note about
Burn the coal...
, there's some minor twitter drama there.

Couple of posts above you, in the spoiler.
and runs better
This comes with a caveat because I distinctly remember Knight having one of the more poorly received launches/ports because of performance issues.
I think the blog I'm about to reference is dead, but I recall some game-dev doing an analysis on the game/releasing an unofficial performance patch that revealed that the game had either a very tiny or didn't have a texture buffer which lead to the stutters in the open world.

Batman didn't actually die, all of the Justice League members that died (except for Wonder Woman) were clones and at the end of the contract mandated expansions they come back in a slideshow cutscene:

It was the PC port of the game that was the problem, they or whoever they got to port it royally fucked it. Jim Sterling, before he trooned out made a whole video on it if I remember correctly. Guess it’s a games industry constant that bad PC ports and optimization will always be a thing lol.

Interesting, there is a good base for a fantastic game in it with more varied missions and enemies that aren't just target practice. I basically broke the game after realizing you can grind for rocket ammo and then you just one tap everything and run away to a corner

And yeah it's a strawpoll that's not overly terrible but more of a meme than actual rankings.

You are correct. It was mainly on PC, in that period of time when PC players ate shit in multiplat games regularly.

I haven't played them yet but have no doubt Mario Wonder and Zelda Echoes of Wisdom are good. Mario Maker 2 was also good.
I remember seeing the new Zelda in Yhatzee's worst game of the year. And googling Mario Wonder the first video I got was Mario turning into a fat elephant man...

Plus having the last best games from Nintendo being 2D platformer Mario and top down Zelda shows that Nintendo is just memberberries to compensate for lack of creativity and vision.

There's only so many ways you can do Mario and Zelda though. I guess some more new IPs couldn't hurt them.
