The Ren & Stimpy thread - Separate from the John K. pedo thread

Maybe some of you will find this interesting. Look what's coming up for auction soon...

Nice. I suppose this is simply the cut-out of the guys placed on a cel. All that's missing is the background and words!

Having to Google, I see there was a WorthPoint auction for this piece.

There's a wonderful Twitter account that showcases production art from Ren and Stimpy. Boards, layout, you name it.

I bring it up because they have recently found something interesting. Some of you might know that the Bloody Head Fairy in "Haunted House" was originally supposed to be George Liquor. They've found what it would have looked like.

And judging by what he was apparently supposed to say, Nick may have had other reasons to object to it...

The Doug version is funnier.

The design is also a little ehhhhh....weird.

I would have taken it a step further and said they should have made charactures of the show creators for both Doug and Rugrats and have them get their comeuppance in absurd ways.

I actually submitted Ren & Stumpy VS Rugrats for Celebrity Deathmatch on the official MTV site.

Wanna hear a funny story?...

John K. wasn't the only person on the show to have a few screws loose. Darrin J. Sargent, the original voice of Powdered Toastman, wasn't happy when they started using Gary Owens as the voice (that is, immortalized the character).

So he got his sister, who taught a second grade class, to have her students bombard Spumco with letters protesting it and asking them to bring him back. It didn't work, of course, but Bob Camp saw one letter and thought it was so amazingly crazy that he had to put it in a cartoon.

The letter read:

"I LIKE DARRIN! HE IS MY FRIEND! I LIKE YOU AND HIM! HE LIKES ME!..."

I always wondered what the hell that was about but now that makes it extremely funny!

This is the kind of story you would usually find on other shows. There are some unpleasant Ren and Stimpy stories, due to all the stuff with John K. But there's a lot of really funny ones too.

My dad and I bonded over this show. He hated cartoons then and still doesn't really care for them now but this, the Simpsons and south park were the three shows me and him always watched together. Seriously I still love my dad today as only a son can but he used to be so cool letting me watch shows like this which my mom hated and I mean HATED.

So yeah ren and stimpy has a very special place in my heart if only cause of the memories of good times it has

I watched the ever loving hell out of this cartoon when I was young, but HO LEE SHIT my grandma hated it. Whenever she'd babysit us she'd get offended and grossed out when this show would come on, and once she flipped the fuck out and threatened to send a letter to Nickelodeon to complain. Apparently sending angry letters to Nickelodeon was a common thing back then, because I heard stories of other outraged parents doing so over different Nick shows.

Ironicaly nowadays it's the thing people who are so overly sensitive that they think they'll bleed out from a paper cut who get to get things they don't like cancelled. Just replace angry letters with angry tweets
