Didn't see this posted here, or I'm just an out of touch retard. I decided to reinstall the game and got greeted with this. As if it's a sleazy free-to-play KMMO, TS4 now has daily login event rewards. They've locked a trait behind this which is the only thing that really pisses me off, and it's not just any trait either - it's a speedier learning trait, which while plentiful already would probably make some super-Sim enthusiasts compulsive enough to keep logging in. Stress sigh.

Don't worry, it was posted in the TS4 mod community thread. Sometimes people post game updates there, and post about mod and cc drama in this thread. I think both threads should be merged but that's just me.
Edit: my bad, it was posted in this thread

I read somewhere that you can randomize your sim's traits in CAS until you get that one. As for the rest of the items, you can get them in the gallery or with a mod.

The next TS4 EP was leaked EA intentionally leaked the new EP:

Here are the obligatory FOMO items for the game, that you can only get by purchasing the EP before September 5:

Wait, cuddling on a bed wasn't an option before? Are these turn-ons and turn-offs identical to how they were in the Sims 2 or more fleshed out?

This entire pack seems like a waste, but should I even need to say that? It's the Sims 4. Of course it was going to be lackluster. I'm just struggling to find anything of worth from this description. This doesn't seem substantial enough for a Game Pack, let alone a full-on expansion. How are they going to get even $10 worth of content out of a shitty dating app?

Just reading over what the description entails:
  • Online dating has already existed since the Sims 3, and we've known how they treat mobile apps since at least that High School expansion pack (where they were just windows like those choose-your-own-adventure popups you get when going to space).
  • Turn-ons and Turn-offs are extremely simple and have existed since the Sims 2 (albeit with absence from 3).
  • "Relationship dynamics" are just friendships, are they not? I have a hard time believing they won't function identically to the existing social bar. Considering how malleable 4's already are, I doubt this will be very substantial either.
  • Offline dating has been a thing forever. I don't understand how that's supposed to be a selling point. If they're supposed to be expanding them, why not elaborate further than "planning where to go and what to do in this new date system"? Either way, I'm expecting something like how you plan parties or custom holidays. Not really deep.
  • Romance traits and aspirations have been around since 3. Maybe 2. (I can't remember enough about 2 to be sure on that though.) I don't understand how this is a selling point so large it deserves its own paragraph. I doubt they're adding prostitution into the game seeing as it's still too tame to properly address alcohol. The single new career that was elaborated on isn't enough to warrant an expansion and seems to just be a typical rabbithole job from the description, so they must seriously be scraping the bottom of the barrel.
  • The new city is probably the most interesting thing yet, but we already have plenty of cities in 4 and this one doesn't even seem that substantial. If they're advertising a "Singles Hangout lot" as if that isn't already every bar ever, there can't be too much to it, surely. Also lol 3 neighborhoods. Betting that there're only 3 or 4 lots in each, too.

I already thought they were seriously reaching for Expansion content with Horse Ranch, but this is getting ridiculous. 40 bucks for a new menu (with an existing base-game counterpart), a feature from the Sims 2's base game, a bunch of stuff we already have, a new city and a likely-rabbithole career. Wow, exciting.

This is why you sail the seas when it comes to EA. Arr matey! I won't give another penny to EA, and I believe in paying for my content for the most part.

Nightlife, the EP that introduced the attraction (turn on and turn off) system for the Sims 2 came out in 2005.

It took Electronic Arts nineteen years to implement this system in a Sims game again. One of the simplest and most requested features that should have been base game.

It would baffle me if I didn't know that EA makes the dumbest decisions with this franchise.

Sims 3 sort of had an attraction system, but it was pretty watered down IMO.
Basically two Sims who had similar enough traits and/or compatible Zodiac signs would get a special moodlet around each other and be more receptive to flirty interactions with each other.
I believe it was introduced as part of the Late Night EP but then was added as a base game feature

Apparently, EA made the login rewards for TS4 tracked on a local file, and not on your EA account, as people would expect. So if you have the game installed on multiple computers, you would have to transfer the config file to the new computer, to use the said rewards, assuming that you're not using one of the "legally backed up" ways to get those items.

And as for the items themselves, they're the same bare minimum junk EA makes for Simmers:

And the "Yogurt Melts" bring back memories of the infamous Ball Pit in the Toddler Stuff SP:

i love my low poly meals

Polyamory will be added to the base game in the next free update
on one hand, it's always good to have more options in a life simulation game

on the other hand, the intentions of this are blindingly obvious and it's not for the sake of gameplay diversity

oh well, at least I can take advantage of all the absolutely fucking insane stuff they add to the base game to pander for comedic purposes. Polyamorous zipper-tits psychopath with emoji pronouns, here I come!

EDIT: as for the trailer: I don't think you could've made a worse first impression than by focusing so much on the dating app (which is, of course, just another menu) and some creepy douche's old lady fetish. It really doesn't help that all the new gyrating animations look really, really bad on these plasticy old models and they're basically the only new non-menu feature shown off throughout the whole thing. This looks more like the Sims team wanted an excuse to make a love story short than an advertisement for an upcoming expansion pack.

There are some rumors going around that Project Rene's development has been cancelled, presumably because Paradox killed off Life By You:

The Sims 5 labelled as (cancelled) on a former employees timeline:

Lead Character Artist Left:

Senior Game Designer for Rene moving to Sims 4:

If these rumors are true, then anyone taking bets on how long it will take for TS4 to break completely, with the amount of DLC still being made?
