The 2 new Kits are out, and people quickly discovered that the Sweet Allure Kit has recycled meshes from previous EPs that are just barely edited, in typical EA reuse fashion:

I can't wait to create an obese paraplegic otherkin nonbinary sim
I will smugly shame all the other players for being bi-phobic fatphobic ableist shitlords

Funnily, because I returned to Sims 3 recently and just made a deformed crippled wizard in Sims 3 (using slider mods and a mod that allows young adult to use elder cane) he's young but walks like he's going to die and lives in a junkyard. and DEI crowd would hate this kind of 'disabled' character because it's certainly made for joke and not for 'representation' and being generally inspiring for green party liberal poster. I can't see making him in Inzoi either because the game is too pretty and won't allow stupid slider that i used to create him.

The graphics look like a mid 2000's game, and not a real Sims 5 game, had EA actually made one instead of wasting time on this multiplayer mobile soycrap:
When Sims 4 came out in 2014 a lot of people said that the graphic was a big letdown. The lack of details and transparency made it straight up worse than Sims 2 graphic because everything looks like plastic. It looks like generic mobile game art, but people eats this slop up because it's 'accessible'.
Yeah, there really isn't any good big life sim atm, imo. Every time a new project pops up, I feel like it just fails to capture what made TS1-3 special.
The kind of goofy humour they used in Sims 1-3 cannot be used today anymore and It's not just EA being greedy and trying to be inoffensive. That's where I think it's why nothing made today will be charming unless the developers have very, very strong vision.

It's not just the woke DEI tranny outcry, but also the fact that people will scream that things are too 'unrealistic' or too American suburbann-coded. (This is where I like Inzoi, It's so Korean-coded that it became a vision in itself. Even if it's very bland).

The general audience has become too humourless and won't tolerate joke characters or stuff like social bunny or therapist in Sims 2 anymore, or why the highest science career is a mad scientist and not tenured professor.

I think a big part of it is social media, and how easy we are able to access information today mixed with how people are easily judged online. Many young people are spiritually CinemaSins who'll nitpick everything and have no chill. The sims 1-3 were also a product of 90s-2000s style of humour and TV shows at the time - and that went out of style... and when people try to do humorous games today it always come across as 'tryhard shitpost' instead of genuine. Because people can't be genuine anymore (e.g. Journey to the Savage Planet)

That's why Inzoi and Paralives are now going for 'inspirational cozy' cutestyle of life simulation with more emphasis on 'realism' but very idealised and cute. Because it is the acceptable kind of 'unrealism'. Inzoi is a lot less DEI-pozzed, but it's also generally inoffensive. before Life by you was cancelled it was also going for boring realism too.

Sims 1, 2, and 3 being easily accessible (through piracy or online sale) now should be a wake up call to those that are still oblivious to how poorly made 4 has continued to be.
At least with Sims 2 and 3, even if you found the pirated downloads, you'd need to install at least a boatload of mods to make the games run at all. They have serious optimisation issues especially 3. A lot of people just prefer 'free download, everything look clean fast and pretty' nature of 4.

Also with sims 3, I must admit that the default skin texture of sims is ugly af (and you need to get a texture mod to fix), and target audience of sims 4 like shiny things and play the game on $200 potato laptop. They just bail off because 'sims look ugly' alone or because of performance issue. With Sims 2 - which I think 'looks better out of the box' than 3 even with dated graphics came with the problem where you just cannot buy Sims 2 properly until very recently, and the version you can buy is extremely buggy. A huge swathe of audience won't ever touch these old games. Sims 4 players also hate how you can't give your sims pronouns and gender identities in the older game.

You can hate EA as much as you want for making absolute slop, but the audience like the slop enough to it not to be a problem. Especially Sims 4 is free and they can boast investors about player count on that.

People say often that both Sims 2 and Sims 3 were 'too ambitious for their own good' to the point that the engine crumbled down in on sheer weight (causing many of its save corruption and performance problems). Can you say anything like this to Sims 4?

They also freak out at the fat option for Sims 2 and cry about it encouraging eating disorders.
How does weight works in Sims 4 anyway? I remember you can create fat characters there.
Because Sims 3 you can also be fat, and you can lose weight in game by exercising and gain weight by eating? What's to freak out? (I played sims 4 for 2 days so I didn't know how it works now)

Weight in the sims 4 is a calorie system, if you eat too much high calorie foods without having your sim exercise they gain weight compared to previous sims games where eating too much of any food gains weight. I believe the freakout for sims 2 came from the fat looks like a small pot belly.

They already have a great idea for a mobile Sims game, it's called "MySims". The cutesy graphics would be an instant hit. Just copy Animal Crossing gameplay and sell celebrity characters from time to time like Fortnite does. Go the full furry route too, since it would be all harmless chibi models. Build a robust Build Mode and let people go wild; let people visit each other and play minigames together, the sky is the limit... This stupid obsession of making a mainline game multiplayer is exactly what is dooming the series.

EA already knows that there's a market for MySims games still, which is why they re-released some of the games on Nintendo Switch and PC. It's probably the stubbornness of the devs themselves as to why they're going the mobile Sims route instead of making a mobile MySims game.

I'm pretty sure the Sims 4 system is SUPPOSED to be like the previous games. However, if I remember correctly, some food items that were added in DLCs were mistakenly not given calorie values, so you can eat as much of them as you want and gain no weight.

Yes, actually. Some high-profile save corruption bugs have started popping up this year: deleted lots, infinite loading, crashing, etc. have all been reported. Something to do with having too many rental units, sims, photos taken by sims, or items placed across all lots.

Good lord if they wanted to make a mobile game while still being lazy and make money off it, port Sims 1 to mobile and sell for like $5
You can install Sims 1 on a mobile device using Winlator; its 100% possible for EA to make their own working version. EA is allergic to money and good decisions
The guy who made Simitone/FreeSO already did all the work for them and EA sent him a cease and desist.

If it's just save corruption without the actual innovation. It's just the game crumbling down from being shit and bloated, not because it's truly good in gameplay term

It says so much about the Sims 4 developers and player base that the only options are basically "I make myself" and "I make celebrities and fictional characters that I am autistically obsessed with." The Sims 4 has no lore because players don't care about unique characters and storytelling anymore. They just want to make their idealized selves (now with zippertits!) and woohoo their anime waifus/kpop oppas.

Creativity is gone. I will confess I have created historical figures multiple times or set many of my characters in the 1880s - 1900s, but much of the player base has no direction.

It seems like games that prime itself to be 'Life Simulator' in pitch will end up being bland and boring (Which is why I'm somewhat hopeful of Inzoi, but cautiously, because it doesn't market itself as 'Life Sim', but I'll have to wait and see). I don't know how to articulate it, but when you limit your brain to that concept - you'll come to the realisation that real life is complex and tedious, and the world we live in has changed from the era old Sims were made (Post-war US suburban and small towns - which is dying), and that old Sims game took itself 'less seriously', back then games were designed as entertainment first and foremost. That actually lead to a lot of feature being cut from Sims 4 as they struggle to balance what is 'realistically aspirational' and what would make a fun gameplay or creative role-playing. E.g. Doghouse is not in Sims 4 because the creator thought 'outdoor dogs' are a thing of the past and it's more 'aspirational' to have fur-babies views of pets, how newspapers and cars are no longer in Sims 4, or how pools, (stylised) burglars and toddlers are only added much later when they don't know what to milk from people anymore. Because it's not part of the aspirational modern life simulation they wanted.

I think 'nu-Trek' (post-Discovery) is a good exhibition of this, where it's less about exploration of sci-fi ideas (and thus perhaps pay less attention to character individual drams - they are military personnel, they have to be professional!), into representative characters with noted modern gender identities and DSM-neurodivegent conditions for people to project themselves in and write fanfic about them. Old Trek played with the ideas that social norms of its day changed, while it's American liberal utopia coded, so many things that were common assumption about race, appearance and individuality of the time could be challenged. That's the problem with the word 'Life Simulator', it's born from the idea that people want a game where they can perfectly project their life in 'perfectly' - rather something that has commentary and storytelling on life.

You can also see in Sims 4 mods where they'll replicate specific drug terms or mental conditions or hood slang. They lost the fantasy aspect of Sims.

There's also part where I think the 'current day life' is quite boring to replicate.

It also doesn't help that EA keeps putting rainbow pre-made Sims that only mentally ill people like, i.e. Ash Harjo in Copperdale and Celeste Michaelson in San Sequoia:

Even some of the TS3 pre-mades had their share of fans. I remember one guy on The Sims Forums that was obsessed with Justine Keaton from Sunset Valley:

EA even added a cameo reference to her with one of the pre-made styles in TS4:

EA posted another TS4 Laundry List for April. The fact that EA is still "investigating" the save game corruption issues, the weather effects being indoor bug, and not being able to fish in Sulani, despite those bugs existing for over a year now, is insulting, but expected for EA's current level of talent on The Sims Team.

After a long time of not playing The Sims, I was so confused when I came back and saw the pronoun updates. How the fuck can the tranny even breastfeed?
