The Sims Modding Community - "[Sims 4] Incest, Teen Romance, Babies For Everyone and more! UPDATED FOR 1.5.149.1020!"

Not a big Sims players, but I'm going to take a wild guess that this is going to be SimCity 2013 all over again.

Sadly, The Sims 4 is still getting new Expansion Packs and other content, mainly because Sims is still a notable cash cow for EA (I'm not sure how well it fares compared to the likes of FIFA though), and because there are effectively no other competitors in the genre, compared to how Cities Skylines came about after SC2013 flopped. I'm not sure how much longer TS4 will last though, even though Grant Rodiek (I think) mentioned in 2018 that they were looking to keep updating the game for another 3 years, and no one has even heard anything about a Sims 5 being made, I think.

Tl;DR
A game that had a lot of potential that was chained to an always online network (before that requirement was patched out at the end of the game's life cycle) that had poor run times and players being forced to build cities in maps too small for city building.

Notice all the dead space that players were not allowed to build in to create the look of a sprawling metropolis.

The game that made me switch to City Skylines and as for The Sims 4 EA has tried like hell to kill their franchise but the fan base just keeps throwing money at EA. People will literally buy any content EA vomits out just because of the long stretches between expansion packs. I remember reading that The Sims 4 was supposed to be online but after the disaster that was the SimCity 2013 they switched formats. As for the gurus many things they claim they can't make they ended up adding. I remember when they said toddlers wouldn't work with the game mechanics but enough people complained and it was added.

I remembered when Graham Nardone mentioned how adding pools in TS4 on release would be too hard to do:

And yet they added pools to the game just months after release. Same with Toddlers, although it took them years to add them back to the game.

Same with landscaping the terrain on lots they said we couldn't have hills originally and that was a feature they added not to long ago. The tranny update was the worse thing they added so many more features the fans have been begging for, but they had to jump on the SJW train.

Honestly at this point they're just making excuses to not do something.

"Buzz Grunt Apologists" are a thing now, apparently.

Buzz Grunt is a sim from The Sims 2 in the neighborhood Strangetown who gets in fights with pretty much every sim in town. Naturally, this makes him an "abuser" and "problematic" in the eyes of Strangetown obsessed simmers.

Was just about to post this. dreadpirate is a personal cow of mine. She's one of those over performing lesbians who thinks she's one of the all powerful gatekeepers of a 15 year old game.

Do you got any good stories about her?

Dreadpirate did kick me from her Sims Discord server for expressing a dislike of male Sims wearing converted female clothes (men in skirts/"pre op AMAB Sims") and is pretty much Yertle of her tiny pond.

But other than that nothing too bad, besides cringy Sim ship wank and maybe one or two bits of drama. She cleans up after herself pretty well and, to be fair, she's a great modder and custom content creator. If there's anything juicy, it'll be in her wlw discord and therefore not thread related.

Isn't her wlw server sims related? It is called Sapphic Sims, after all.

I'm surprised she kicked you right away. I've only seen her give warnings.

Today marks the 19th Anniversary (although it's not much of a good thing) of The Sims franchise, and it was announced on today's stream that they will be adding a bunch of Chinese New Year themed items to the game. Seems underwhelming to me.

Also, this tweet from Grant Rodiek was from a while back, but him "taking" the credit for dog houses not being a thing in TS4 reached delusional levels:

>dog houses arent realistic
>vampires
>aliens
>plantsims
>a literal grim reaper
>cow plants
>the machine they made for how sims give birth
>i smell the bullshit

These gurus could save a lot of time by simply telling people that they didn’t feel like adding a feature. No one’s buying this “we’re trying to tell a story” and “it’s just not realistic” stuff. It’s the Sims and we know these people are all lazy and bad at programming/coding. Nothing more.
