The Skeptic Community - Pseudo-intellectuals ranting on Youtube

I was worried that I'd get butthurt by this thread because I follow some skepticism folks (mostly medical stuff- debunking fake cancer cures etc) but I'm relieved to see it's just YouTube bullshit. The only person I've actually seen videos from is thunderf00t and then only those where he was actually talking about scams and not slapfighting with other YTers.

I didn't know there was a 'skeptical community' doing this shit. Everything gets ruined by attention whores.

The idea of this whole "skeptic community" thing is fucking stupid because all of them are dead-set in their beliefs and keep accepting everything people popular in their community say, which the exact opposite of skepticism.

Honestly, I'm always wary of people who self-identify as "skeptics." There's nothing wrong with questing things or wanting proof, but the majority of self-identified "skeptics" I've come across are unbearable pseudo-intellectuals who think they're smarter than everyone else.

What I find particularly funny is how genuinely most of them make some general comments about the "Skeptic Community", claim it doesn't exist, don't know what it is and how they didn't name it but yet they and everyone watching somehow actually does seem to know who it includes.

I honestly watch a lot of these people and I reckon people are jumping ship as people like Sargon become increasingly right-wing. As has been mentioned, Sargon is a conspiracist, always has been.

I wouldn't class Harmful Opinions of Metokur/IA as part of these guys though.

i thought it was pretty funny that one time That Guy T threw shade at armored skeptic and pussied about it by saying he was drunk when he did it. he has thrown shade at anti-sjws and skeptics a few times before. he himself is a bit laughable at times, i'd say, but i wouldn't mind grabbing some popcorn and watching some cannibalism in the community.

Labels. Placing priority on labels is the goddamn problem. Once you standardize your own label so hard that you assume you shouldn't ever have to actually explain your belief to anyone rather than just say a single word, it becomes a rigid, thoughtless dogma. And goes hand in hand with using labels to tarnish your opponents instead of actually debating or critiquing their ideas in an open way.

> video is over 20 minutes of autistic rambling

Whoa nigga, do they really expect anyone to watch ALL THAT SHIT?

Jim is funny and has well thought opinions and serves them up well. He never gets in an argument and chimps out where he looks like a fedora tipping idiot, he is always calm and presents his facts accordingly. Not to mention he is not bad to listen to voice wise.
Maddox on the other hand..

exactly they used "skepticism" as a hook to get people to believe their ideas were verified and well thought as well as to get people to give them a chance but then they used the excuse of them being skeptical of everything to get people to unquestionably agree with their every point disagree and youre just a less skeptical thinker ironically enough instead of "think for yourself" its "i think for myself (they dont often they just copy sargons ideas) so my ideas are better than yours accept them without thinking"
