I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

It's rather funny how discriminating someone based on their ideology is racism, but discriminating someone based on their race is completely fine.

I often asked myself what the Left hoped to gain by open borders and endless immigration. Then I realized the answer. An endless underclass of slaves/not-slaves that would be eternally grateful to their masters, and never dare to question and turn on them like those uppity blacks did.
I am honestly and unironically surprised more people haven't figured it out-then again I'm from California where this has been going on for decades.

It's also used to suppress wages, to increase voters for redistricting, census inflation and to turn the United States into a oligarchy like Mexico/other South American countries. I honestly believe the only thing stopping them from going full banana republic is the huge level of gun ownership in the US which is why they keep trying to neuter the 2nd Amendment. They're afraid the US would devolve into an Iraq style insurgency and ruin their plans.

Its pretty sad that in the number of hardworking Muslims I've met who were genuinely nice and quiet people that fucking idiots have to elect lunatics like Omar because her jihadi goatfucker persona is all most people know about Muslims. The liberal side has invented a seriously bewildering version of racism where the worst stereotypes of a race are not just presumed but also celebrated and the people who are reasonable like everyone else are just ignored.

I'd be more afraid of alimony payments if you happen to be married to Ilhan Omar.

I am completely baffled over the fact that people will actually defend this terrorist-supporting piece of shit and want to keep her in congress. This just makes me want Trump 2020 (and I'm not fond of Trump).

Personally, I think they want four more years of Trump at this point, wouldn't surprise me all that much to be honest. Behaving like deranged idiots 24/7 is not as difficult as, I dunno, actually governing?

Or are they basically the same thing at this point?

This is one of the rare occasions where I can actually vote something Islamic Content...

I never got this line of reasoning-- "oh, but we're more at risk by white people than we are by terrorists". Regardless of whether or not that's the case, supposing it was, why would you think that importing more problems on top of the ones we already have isn't a problem that deserves to be addressed?

"House fires are a serious issue and cause a preventable loss of life every year."

"But more people die in car crashes, why don't you focus on THAT instead? You have something against home owners?"

Bernie’s trying to promote the GND again. Did he forget how badly it failed in Congress?
Ban Nuclear Energy: We must stop building new nuclear power plants, and find a real solution to our existing nuclear waste problem.
Well imagine my fucking shock, good to know he can be safely ignored there as not having any actual solutions as usual.

This is understandable, really. Bernie has to do something to remind people he exists. All the fire he had in 2015/16 is pretty much gone, do he’s gotta do something to remind everyone that he’s the one who started that whole “socialism” thing all the kids are into today (blasted ungrateful kids), it’s like an old man sitting on his porch, yelling at passing neighborhood kids to get BACK on his lawn.

A Minnesota congressional candidate hoping to unseat Ilhan Omar with promises of being tough on crime faces felony shoplifting charges, according to a report.

Danielle Stella, a 31-year-old supporter of President Trump, was arrested twice this year in the thefts of 279 items worth more than $2,300 from a Target and $40 worth of goods from a grocery store, The Guardian reported.

“I am not guilty of these crimes. In this country I am innocent until proven guilty and that is the law,” the special-education teacher told the news outlet.

“If I was guilty of crimes, I would never run for public office, putting myself in the public eye under a microscope to be attacked by all political sides,” added Stella, who this week described Minneapolis as “the crime capital of our country.”

Stella told police that she “remembers arriving at Target to purchase items but nothing else” due to post-traumatic stress disorder, and that she “normally she goes to Target with someone because of anxiety around people,” according to a criminal complaint cited by The Guardian.

She's kinda cute tho for a politician.

I can't wait to see this debate.
"You're a shoplifter!"
"You married your brother!"

A sped teaching SPED. Interesting choice. Bitch is dumb as rocks for trying to steal $2,000 from Target
