I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

Yes, we can no longer criticize a man for helping to falsify a 'whistleblower' document and for reading false information into Congressional record purely because he's Jewish. The fact that they all still try to push this antisemitism angle is hilarious considering that his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren are Jewish. After all he's done to benefit Israel since his election, after his administration deported a literal Nazi that Obama's administration refused to deport, and since he's moved the embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, this particular brand of screeching comes off as mildly disingenuous.
That fucking article she links to is something else.

“PRIME DIRECTIVE: Always Blame the Jews for Everything.”

That was one of the especially disturbing headlines in a 17-page “style guide” written by Andrew Anglin, editor of the neo-Nazi website the Daily Stormer.

“As Hitler says, people will become confused and disheartened if they feel there are multiple enemies,” Anglin argued, according to a copy of the document obtained by HuffPost in December 2017. “As such, all enemies should be combined into one enemy, which is the Jews.”

All the President’s Crimes

Since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced an impeachment inquiry on September 24, President Donald Trump and his acolytes seem to have borrowed a page from the Daily Stormer playbook. And here’s the thing: As with the president’s outrageous insistence that foreign governments dish up dirt on Joe Biden and his son, they happen to be banging their anti-Semitic drum in plain sight.
Take Trump’s tweet on September 28:

Can you imagine if these Do Nothing Democrat Savages, people like Nadler, Schiff, AOC Plus 3, and many more, had a Republican Party who would have done to Obama what the Do Nothings are doing to me. Oh well, maybe next time!

To be clear: More than 200 House Democrats have signed onto an impeachment inquiry and yet the president chose to target only three of them by name, two of whom are Jewish: Adam Schiff and Jerrold Nadler, chairs of the House Intelligence and Judiciary committees. The third target was — surprise! — a woman of color, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Shamefully, he attacked all of them as “savages.”
How is such rhetoric not racist?

On October 2, Trump escalated his brazenly anti-Semitic attack on Schiff. “We don’t call him ‘Shifty Schiff’ for nothing,” the president told reporters in the Oval Office. “He’s a shifty, dishonest guy.”

The stereotype of Jews as “shifty,” the suggestion that they are sneaky and manipulative, has a long and ignominious history. Trump — who “often plays on well-worn caricatures about cleverness, deviousness, and physical weakness” when discussing Jews, to quote Peter Beinart — knows what he is doing when he gives Schiff this particular nickname; it is no accident or coincidence.

Still not convinced? Then consider these two tweets from the president’s thick-witted son, Don Jr., from October 2:

Radical liberal. Handpicked by George Soros. A Soros puppet.

Don Jr.’s tweets provoked a rare response from Jonathan Greenblatt, head of the Anti-Defamation League, who referred to his invocation of Soros, a left-leaning Jewish billionaire, as an “anti-Semitic trope” and a “dangerous” insinuation.

Dangerous indeed. On October 22, 2018, Trump supporter Cesar Sayoc sent a pipe bomb to the Westchester, New York, home of Soros. Six days later, white nationalist Robert Bowers murdered 11 Jewish worshippers in a Pittsburgh synagogue because he believed that wealthy U.S. Jews were conspiring bring “invaders in that kill our people,” an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory endorsed by the president of the United States. “A lot of people say” that Soros funded the migrant caravan, Trump irresponsibly claimed only three days after the Pittsburgh massacre.

So why isn’t there more outrage over Trump’s blatant and dangerous anti-Semitism, in the specific context of this impeachment inquiry? Why has his nasty, conspiratorial and Jew-baiting response to it not been a bigger story?

One reason is that Trump’s anti-Semitism is nothing new. He was an anti-Semite when he accused U.S. Jews of being dumb and disloyal. He was an anti-Semite when he praised neo-Nazis as “very fine people.” He was an anti-Semite when he referred to comedian Jon Stewart as Jonathan Leibowitz. He was an anti-Semite when he kept — no joke — a book of Hitler’s speeches next to his bed. So we have become inured to his anti-Semitism, just as we have become inured to his anti-Muslim bigotry and his anti-black and anti-Latino racism.

Another reason is the cynical and partisan weaponization of anti-Semitism by the right to attack the left — especially the likes of Reps. llhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib – aided and abetted by a lazy liberal media. (Can you imagine the reaction if Omar had called, say, Trump’s Jewish Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin “shifty” or a “savage”?)

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - OCTOBER 09: U.S. President Donald Trump speaks to supporters during a campaign rally at the Mid-America Center on October 9, 2018 in Council Bluffs. Iowa The rally is one of several Trump has scheduled recently in support of Republican candidates running in the upcoming midterm election. (Photo by Scott Olson/Getty Images)

But we cannot afford to give Trump a pass on this. “As the impeachment inquiry escalates,” Beinart writes, “Trump’s anti-Semitic rhetoric probably will too.” Remember: The president’s paranoid and cultish online supporters have already begun promulgating mad conspiracy theories to try and protect their hero from being impeached and, as Vox’s Jane Coaston has observed, “an environment where conspiracy theories flourish and find new ground is the perfect environment for anti-Semitism itself to flourish and find new acolytes,” especially because “anti-Semitism itself is a conspiracy theory.”

Hate crimes targeting Jews or Jewish institutions in the U.S. rose by 37 percent during Trump’s first year in office. As a vote on impeachment approaches, and Trump and Co. fall back again and again on the Daily Stormer’s “prime directive,” things are only going to get uglier. There’s nothing funny or cute about the president’s mocking of “shifty” Schiff or his mainstreaming of crazy conspiracy theories. Both the Pittsburgh shooter and the pipe bomber are stark reminders that anti-Semitic rhetoric — of all types but especially of the Trumpian variety — puts Jewish lives in very real danger.

My favorite part of this article is when the author, Mehdi Hasan, tries to say that making fun of Schiff's name is somehow an act of anti-semitism. Because, you know, Yahweh forbid anyone calls him Adam Shekelstein or anything that's actually anti semitic.

I like to dunk on AOC as much as the next person, but her failure to counter the exceptional LaRouchie is more due to her being a shitty politician than her thinking eating babies is a-okay. Any halfway skilled politician would have been able to shut down that psycho in a reasonably polite way, but AOC has no clue what the fuck she's doing. It really was only a matter of time before a constituent fucked her over like this. At least it was a lunatic or troll who got to her first, and not a real constituent out to drag her for her part in destroying the Amazon deal, among other things that AOC has fucked up in less than a year.

That's the problem with having an identity or position based on spouting radical tall tales, someone can just one up you and it will be hard to tell if they are sincere or mocking you.
AOC: We have 12 years left, then everyone dies.
Someone: We have less than three months left, nuking Russia isn't enough, we need to start eating babies.
AOC: fuck

What is she supposed to do? Her thing is being hysterical about climate change, she can't tell that lady that she is exaggerating the effects and urgency of climate change, it would be like the king of white supremacy telling someone to stop exaggerating the inferiority of black people and jews.

After all he's done to benefit Israel since his election, after his administration deported a literal Nazi that Obama's administration refused to deport, and since he's moved the embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, this particular brand of screeching comes off as mildly disingenuous.

Bit off topic but the "Nazi" deportation thing was actually kinda fucked and not something to be proud of. The guy was 95 years old, here legally (told a white lie on his application in fucking 1949, got it stripped retroactively in 2003), not wanted for any crime whatsoever (Germany found no evidence to convict him for war crimes), and in all respects pretty much a quiet unassuming old dude. He was never deported because there was no reason to look into him. But then the fag Grenfell and certain parties in NYC decided to make him a top priority for some odd reason...

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Proposes Full Welfare Benefits for All Immigrants, Regardless of Legal Status, After Trump Visa Ban

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has published a series of economic policies as part of her plans for a "just society," including allowing immigrants living in the U.S. illegally, the same welfare benefits as U.S. citizens.

The New York congresswoman has published a total of six legislation proposals which aim to tackle the "stark inequalities" which exist in the U.S.

The package of ideas includes The Place to Prosper Act, designed to create a stable rental housing market to protect tenants and rein in corporate landlords.

There is also The Recognizing Poverty Act which would ensure the Department of Health and Human Services adjusts the federal poverty line to account for stipulations such as "geographic cost variation, costs related to health insurance, work expenses for the family, child care needs, and new necessities, like internet access."

Ocasio-Cortez, who previously pushed for the Green New Deal, has also announced The Embrace Act, which would allow all immigrants, including those living in the country illegally, to be provided with the same Federal public benefits as U.S. citizens.

"Our nation must recognize that our history—immigrants, enslaved peoples, and refugees built this country. We all do better when we create a just society that embraces our most vulnerable populations and paves a path to prosperity for all," Ocasio-Cortez's manifesto states.

"This bill would ensure that all persons in need are eligible for the largest programs of the social safety net, regardless of their immigration status."

According to the proposal, Federal public benefit includes any retirement, welfare, health, disability, and unemployment benefits, as well as any similar payments or assistance that are provided to an individual, household, or family by an agency of the U.S.

The idea to give all immigrants the same welfare rights as those already legally living in the U.S. as citizens arrived as President Donald Trump announced that visas will be denied for all immigrants who cannot prove they will be able to afford health care within 30 days of entering the country.

Trump said the new rule, which will come into place on November 3, aims to stop immigrants who will "financially burden the United States."

"While our healthcare system grapples with the challenges caused by uncompensated care, the United States Government is making the problem worse by admitting thousands of aliens who have not demonstrated any ability to pay for their healthcare costs," Trump said in a statement.

The White House cited a report from the Kaiser Family Foundation, a health care policy thinktank, which claimed that legal immigrants are three times as likely as U.S. citizens to not have any health insurance.

In a tweet, Ocasio-Cortez condemned the policy as "hypocrisy, xenophobia, and barbarism all in one."

She added: "The United States doesn't even offer guaranteed healthcare for *its own citizens,* yet wants to demand it from people of other national origins."

Speaking after a town hall in her home district in New York, Ocasio-Cortez said she has yet come up with a figure for how much her welfare proposal would cost.

"This is a question that is only asked about the general welfare of the public and it's not a question that we ask about war, it's not a question that we ask about the $2.1 trillion GOP tax cut," Ocasio-Cortez said, reported Reuters.

"For those that may have a price tag attached to them, we're happy to have that conversation."

Yeah, I don't really think that's going to help curb illegal immigration. Let's not do that.

Imagine that passes.

What, if anything, would be a benefit of being a citizen in the United States?

Voting in federal elections? I don't know about you all, but I'd consider trading that away for woke colleges and corporations trying to give me money at every opportunity.

Cocaine Mitch is going to dab on Red Cortez again by putting it up to a US Senate vote.

Is she really trying to pull this after the Omar shit? I don't think either said anything "antisemitic" but what Omar said was worse than anything Trump said.

REP. ILHAN OMAR FILES FOR DIVORCE
---
7:05 AM PT -- According to the divorce docs -- obtained by TMZ -- Omar says there's been an "irretrievable breakdown of the marriage relationship." She states the couple has 3 minor children, who she wants joint legal and physical custody of ... and wants to deny spousal support to each side.

Omar wants the court to decide child support, but doesn't indicate who should receive it.

----
Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is heading for splitsville with her husband -- for the second time -- TMZ has learned.

According to court records, obtained by TMZ, the freshman Representative -- and member of the so-called "Squad" -- filed for divorce Friday in Minnesota from her husband, Ahmed Hirsi, who is also the father of her 3 kids.

The filing comes on the heels of Rep. Omar denying a split from her husband. The breakup rumors started after her campaign consultant Tim Mynett's wife filed for divorce, alleging an affair between Mynett and Omar. She also denied the affair.

Her divorce adds another layer to her complicated history with her now estranged husband, Hirsi. They reportedly married in a religious ceremony in 2002 -- but the union was not recognized legally. The couple had 2 children together, but separated in 2008.

She went on to marry another man named Ahmed -- British citizen Ahmed Elmi -- in Minneapolis in 2009, and this time it was official with legal docs and everything. However, they reportedly split in 2011 and he returned to the UK ... but they weren't legally divorced until 2017.

Meanwhile, Oman reconciled with Hirsi in 2012 and they had another child together ... while she was still legally married to Elmi.

Omar and Elmi divorced officially in 2017, and then she wed Hirsi -- legally this time -- in 2018.

Now, they're headed for an official divorce. The Congresswoman has reportedly moved out of their place and into a penthouse apartment in Minneapolis.

We've reached out to Omar's camp ... no word back so far
