The Square Enix Griefing Thread

Purposely sabotage it then complain that it underperforms. Kingdom Hearts is still on EGS and is seemingly permanently exclusive, and I know a bunch of people that will only buy it if it goes to Steam.
>rerelease the old Kingdom Hearts titles
>only on EGS on PC
>as a fucking retarded streaming thing on Switch
>no price drops whatsoever on Xbox, keeping the whole saga altogether $170
>PS4 gets an all-in-one package, with everything ported to Xbox but for just $50

"See? PlayStation is obviously the best! Wait, where are you guys going?"

No, have DeNA port them all to phones and then only release them in Japanese.

Count me as one of those who will never buy it as long as its on EGS. It really is pathetic. Square Enix are just shooting themselves in the foot at this point, and they keep doing it repeatedly, then wonder why they keep losing money.

Square Enix Reveals It Is Going To Focus On More AAA Titles Moving Forward

In a new earnings call, the developer said it will put less emphasis on mid sized titles from now on.

Oh good, more shit.
So RIP the Nier series I guess? What AAA Square game has even been good in the last decade? Actually nevermind that, what AAA games have they even released? Is it literally just Final Fantasy, Forspoken and Kingdom Hearts?

There's the Western games like Tomb Raider, but they sold those companies. It's not like Mana or Saga are AAA even though they're better than FF. Hopefully Octopath will survive.

Well, there go the remakes like Live-A-Live, and probably stuff like I Am Setsuna, I guess. I'm glad the Mario RPG remake got through the door before this gay shift.

Nier is AAA, isn't it? If graphics are anything to go by it looks better than Forspoken at least.

The Mario RPG is being funded and developed by Nintendo directly, isn't it?
But you're right. I was hoping for a Live a Live treatment for Treasure of the Rudras but that seems unlikely now. Though, I though Live A Live sold fairly well.

If that's true about Mario RPG then if it does well there might actually be a good chance we get that long awaited sequel after all. That's a lot of initiative for Nintendo to take and would seem pretty random if they don't have bigger plans.

Yeah, seeing more Japan exclusives like that remade would be nice. It's the best use of such remakes imo, they're new games to a lot of us.

So what are my options if I want a physical copy of Final Fantasy Pixel Collection? I had to sell my Switch Lite this spring before it came out to pay for some emergency car repairs and I am looking to get a replacement Switch in the next month or so.

I know I'll probably have to pay rape dollar price for it but on Ebay, a lot of the less expensive versions are listed as "Japanese Versions". Is this the same as the limited release collectors version/in English? Also, how much are the Pixel games selling individually on the Switch online store? Would it be simpler and way cheaper (IE I can get all six games separately as digital only for about $50-60 combined than paying $100+ for a physical version?

Don't they have a remake of at least one of the Dragon Quest games in that HD 2D engine in the pipeline? Do they even consider Dragon Quest AAA?

I'd prefer it once we get AI to translate and Singaporeans to edit the text. None of this western localization shit because some of those old JRPGs would make the present crop faint reading the script.

I think FF & DQ will continue to get spinoffs and remakes outside of their AAA main entries despite their focus on AAA, they're basically their flagship franchises.

I also think they consider DQ to be AAA, I'd expect DQ12 to look great and probably barely run on Switch.

Fucking wot?

Outside of FFVII remake (and even that I'm not sure about) has any of their AAA shit been successful?

I thought their big hits have been the AA and smaller shit like Octopath Traveler and stuff.

No, and Square admits this, but is pointing the blame elsewhere
