The Square Enix Griefing Thread

Year 7 contender:
if FF16 can hold what it promised it might be able to carry it.

also with overwatch shitting the bed (even harder) it might get more numbers just by that and not being total ass. let's be honest as much as people whine about looks no one really cares, OW always looked like ass in most regards and was carried hard by the porn, yet people ate that shit up.

They copied Splatoon like 10 years after it came out. Just in time.
To be fair - "Splatoon - but without the dogshit controls, matchmaking, level rotations, and RPG elements" is actually not a horrible idea that I'm surprised hasn't been tried already and if it's decently fun it might find a very nice niche on a console that isn't Nintendo Switch.

Doubly so if they bring some innovation to the Splatoon formula, which doesn't have much to speak of. Varied game modes, team sizes, etc, can make a difference.

The developers must have looked at Jet Set Radio and thought how do we market this to the coombrained low attention span overwatch gamers.
The thing is this, this new game Squeenix is putting out Foamstars won't even last long. at best it would last a full month and that's it. People would just move on to something else, and it's pretty much like most other ADHD-ridden multiplayer co-op FPS games. Shit, even Overwatch still manage to last seven years before it finally became irrelevant all due to ActiBlizz's shitty decisions and business practices.

tl;dr TF2 is still relevant after 16 years

I have no interest in the genre but at least Foamstars has a unique ascetic. I wish it well as long as its not eating up a dev team I like.

I'm not rally sure why everyone hates this Foamstars game, it look fine to me.
It's hard to be optimistic about a multiplayer game that's going after the Fortnite audience. let alone one that's a PlayStation exclusive. It looks fun, but I really don't want to get invested in something that looks like it'll die by the end of summer.

Though to Square's credit, this:

is a hell of a lot more appealing than this:

The biggest worry is that Square Enix sucks missive amounts of dick but even still most of the games they've released have been mostly just mediocre. The last SE game I've played was the Valkyrie Profile reboot, it's fine, not great but not bad either.

As far a Foamstars is concerned, I think it could be the break out hit SE wants but it could also die 1 week after release.

Square Enix has to break the record after that Babylon's Fall speedrun. If you can't be famous for good games anymore, be famous for dead ones.
