Nah, SMT had the balls to challenge Yahweh. They looked at the Jewish version of God and thought, "That'd make a great final boss".Seems more like a strike against it than anything.

It's just about the safest target fiction can choose.Nah, SMT had the balls to challenge Yahweh. They looked at the Jewish version of God and thought, "That'd make a great final boss".
The Jewish version is the safest one to choose? It's just about the safest target fiction can choose.
Just about, the only way it could be safer is if Jesus Christ was the final boss. The Jewish version is the safest one to choose?
Once you realize that Yahweh and the Law faction are literally just stand ins for the horrible, conformist shitshow that is modern Japanese society, it all makes sense. For why they use Judeo-Christianity as the stand in for that, rather than their own gods? Beats the hell out of me.Seems more like a strike against it than anything.
Bad news, the devs have historically claimed that isn't the Christian God or the ultimate evil.>kill a stand in for God
>not actually God Himself
SMT wins again.
In the 90's?Just about, the only way it could be safer is if Jesus Christ was the final boss.
This man is correct, but doesn't know exactly how correct they are. This has been the cope defense of terrible Nip storytelling for like 30 years now.
I didn’t even like the plot of type 0, and it certainly wasn’t fun to play.No you do that for the ff13 trilogy and type O so you can actually appreciate the plot without having to play it.
Meanwhile, they'll tell you to jerk off to trannies and ugly, manly She-Hulks whether or not they're fucking. They'll destroy your life if you speak out against Abby or any lbgt/trans revisions in shit like Guilty Gear. The censors disagree.

Even if you don't think cleavage is a big deal you shouldn't let a bunch of transexual freaks decide what you're allowed to see and hear.
Oh no kh is dubbed just right. Honestly 13s dub/localization is ok in the basic sense, it just screws up or straight up omits some of the background lore.Poor dubbing is the only thing that stopped a story about Mickey Mouse and the kid from the Sixth Sense from being an epic for the ages that makes Chaucer, Shakespeare, and Tolkien look like amateurs.
The decision to convey the plot through teenagers and a documentary style narrative really hurt it. When you look past it, there's actually a pretty good dark story about a world where life is cheap when nobody can remember their loss.I didn’t even like the plot of type 0, and it certainly wasn’t fun to play.
Because Japs look at Christian mythos the same way we look at Shinto mythos. Cool shit for a video game.Once you realize that Yahweh and the Law faction are literally just stand ins for the horrible, conformist shitshow that is modern Japanese society, it all makes sense. Shin Megami Tensei isn't even a very good series, anyway. It's Pokemon for Hot Topic's core demographic, but with a lot more grinding that it tries to pass off as difficulty. I gave SMT4 a fair shot and eventually made it to Tokyo, which was supposed to be a big part of the game, but by then I was so fucking bored and fed up with it that I shelved it for good. It's just about the safest target fiction can choose.
Less so but it's always been a pretty safe target in modern times. In the 90's?
I haven't played any except the DS one briefly. The most interesting thing about the series is that it spawned the Featuring Dante from Devil May Cry meme lolShin Megami Tensei isn't even a very good series, anyway. I really should get around to reselling my copy someday. I know it's worth a good amount of money.
I get what you're saying, but this was 1992 and I definitely remember it being a no-no back then. Hell, in 1987 the National Endowment for the Arts got a budget cut over Piss Christ, which was amusing since the art piece itself was supposedly a condemnation of society's commercialization and cheapening of God. I digress, though, the point was it was still very volatile at the time. Maybe not in Japan, but certainly in the West.Less so but it's always been a pretty safe target in modern times.
It's a bit like Earthbound in that it's a very traditional RPG framework (this time Wizardry instead of Dragon Quest) with strong theming bolted on.Shin Megami Tensei isn't even a very good series, anyway. It already was in the 90s in Japan - or the prelude was.View attachment 5789216

They'd blackwash Aya, troon out Daniel and Maeda, and make Eve secretly good and/or gay for Aya. Do not want.
Has that stopped these fuckers before? It already was in the 90s in Japan - or the prelude was.
