He looked pretty solid in the few practice bouts he did during the June tour, albeit with a heavily wrapped ankle. I suspect hes just playing it safe to prolong his young career.Takerufuji confirmed still out for recovery, hope he's doing well
It's probably over for him, sad that we wouldn't be able to see a dohyo iri from the battle hamster, it would have been hilarious ngl.I've heard rumours of Takakeisho being on the verge of retiring if his neck gets worse, and Day 3 it's announced that he's out of the current September tournament with a neck injury.
I wonder if that might be the end for him.
He's definitely not the same guy he was a year ago when he was getting around 10 wins per basho. And now with Onosato and Atamifuji coming up and doing better he's probably past his point now. Ozeki is still a very impressive rank to have reached at least. It's probably over for him, sad that we wouldn't be able to see a dohyo iri from the battle hamster, it would have been hilarious ngl.
How has shishi been faring?
Hoshoryu never seemed to really level up beyond the consistent 10-ish wins, I'm afraid he might end up peaking where he is. Kotozakura has had a very slow but steady climb though, I believe in him.Wtf happened to the ozeki bruh. Kirishima redemption arc though yeesh.
The thing I love about him is that he seems to have a great mentality throughout the tournament so far. Someone like Atamifuji seems to have the strength and build to do well but his mentality isn't all there yet, whereas Onosato seems to excel at everything so far. He's got the strength and height of a rikishi like Terunofuji, the composure and movement of Asanoyama, and the mentality of an Ozeki. He's so exciting to watch.I'm starting to seriously believe Onosato could be our next yokozuna and I'm not sure if I should be excited or fear the potential disappointment.
When he first got to Makuuchi it seemed like he had the power but no defense, I'm happy to see he may have worked that kink out already. He's got the strength and height of a rikishi like Terunofuji, the composure and movement of Asanoyama, and the mentality of an Ozeki. He's so exciting to watch.
Not unexpected, but still kinda sad to see. May he become a powerful coach and raise new cannonball rikishi. It is official, Takakeisho has now retired.
Ozeki without even the full topknot and 2 yusho, either he soars into yokozuna real fucking soon or he gets snagged like the past few ozeki, or worse gets injured so bad ye goes down to juryo or beyond.I wonder if Onosato is the realest deal there is or if the state of makuuchi is really fucking bad. Either way, two yusho is nothing to sneeze at.
When was the last time we saw something like this? I don't think it has happened in my time following the sport (Since Hakuho's last tournament in July 2021).Ozeki without even the full topknot and 2 yusho
That's what I'm really afraid of. This year has been especially bad with injuries large and small. At least we rarely see Onosato as the one being thrown off the dohyo.or worse gets injured so bad ye goes down to juryo or beyond.
What is this referring to? Must have been quite a while ago since Ishiura has been retired for some timeIshiura being done dirty by Kotozakura

Yeah it's quite old now. Saw it live on stream. Basically, it was strong pushout by Kotozakura on Ishiura, who got a pinched nerve out of the exchange. Pretty much ended his career then and their. What is this referring to? Must have been quite a while ago since Ishiura has been retired for some time
