Surely got to get it by this point. He's got everything to be a Yokozuna and he's had his rough patch of tournaments now, so hopefully it'll come sooner rather than later.Onosato getting the rope by the July basho, then? Would need to go 12-3 in May.
Ura nonchalantly conking Onosato on the head as he rolled off is peak sumo.Started out as a clown basho but I think it ended pretty decent. I wanted Takayasu to win but at least he didn't choke, he was just outplayed. Onosato resisting that throw at the tawara was a showing of immense strength.
Here are a few of my favorite funny bouts of this tournament:

I've heard some users ask for them to be hidden behind spoiler tags so it doesn't clutter a thread with loading media, but I don't mind it.(I remember someone complaining about something to do with videos in posts on KF but I can't remember what it was about. Please remind me if I committed a sin here.)
Holy shit, I've watched that clip so many times and never saw that. I was so focused on Ura's Dark Souls roll leading seamlessly into the despondent walk every time.Ura nonchalantly conking Onosato on the head as he rolled off is peak sumo.![]()
You'd be surprised how many rikishi lose their body fat immediately after retirement. It's a different kind of fat that they build through their regimen, not sure if that makes it easier. Takanohana is the best example, nearly halved his weight within 2 years of retirement. It's probably hard to find a job after an unsucessful Sumo career. They are morbidly obese, have health problems and no degree. Well, they could open a restaurant tho.
The mawashi does end up pushing their gut out beyond what their stomach normally looks like, but it's pretty obvious a lot of rikishi are also just fat by default with their diet. You see a lot of cope that rikishi aren't fat that it's all muscle under there! When clearly some are disgustingly fat see Orora. However most are actually built like Olympic powerlifters who have the same types of bodies with big heavy guts. I assume because they are using their bodies in similar ways, i.e. pushing thrusting.
Chiyomaru was my favorite 'classic fat guy' in the Dohyo, but Aoiyama is definitely the most deserving of the Robert Paulson award. They ARE fat, but there's a lot of muscle under there as well. That's the important distinction to me. The "just fat" guys rarely make it very far. Was Ichinojo the latest one?
