I've noticed they have a massive hate boner for Abi too. He had a few issues with the JSA and offered to resign but they refused. But also the people on reddit just hate his tsuki-oshi slap/push fighting technique too.I expected something like that. The Ryuden hate is so fucking reddit it hurts. Yeah, I get it, he cheated on his wife. That sucks. I don't care, you don't care either, get over it. Every single sumospiffy video is tainted with it too.
Fucking reddit.
The run-ins with the JSA were so mild too. A dumb prank with Wakamotoharu being posted to social media and the JSA make them both apologise for it and enact social media policies. Then the trips to bars during COVID where Abi offered to give up his career for forgiveness but they said no. He's since apologised profusely for it, cried during his next tournament win about it, but five years on and reddit still love casting him as a villain for it.
Even his fighting style isn't as bad as reddit makes it out to be. Nobody batted an eyelid when the likes of Takakeisho and Tamayasu used the same fighting style but because it's Abi it's suddenly so unprofessional and unsportsmanlike. Same with anytime he tries a henka and reddit users are disgusted by him for it. I remember Takakeisho doing it to Atamifuji in a play-off (where Atamifuji was a rookie and was so close to clinching the yusho) and reddit was absolutely fine with that henka since it wasn't Abi doing it.
