I think I prefer the 'he was rolled because of injury' timeline to the 'he got rolled because his less-conventional technique got solved' one. This is recoverable.

Yeah there was no way all of those rikishi would have figured him out all at once if he were 100%. Hell if he were 100% even figuring him out most of them would still be finessed to a loss.
How did I know? This is recent news but am so sure I had heard that somewhere before. Maybe it was just speculation I skimmed past. At least that means he didn't get nervous and there's hope for renewed glory if he doesn't do something stupid.

I'd genuinely be happy for at least some improvements to the surrounding of the dohyo. There's countless incidents happening because big meaty men are falling at awkward angles and from ridiculous heights. I know it doesn't fix every injury issue but it at least helps protect them and the elders/fans surrounding it.

That being said, there are surprisingly few injuries stemming from falling 6ft onto your back/shoulder and being pancaked by a 400lb man which is something that usually happens at least once per day in Makuuchi.

Amazing how this basho seemingly self-immolated immediately.
I will now hold out hope for a Takayasa or Zak yusho as consolation. If Papayasu can get one yusho on the board before retirement, awesome. Likewise if Zak can finally start a 'zuna run, that would be nice.

Genuinely running out of people I care about at the top. Plus it diminishes the victory of whoever wins, since they didn’t have to battle half the sanyaku they ordinarily would.
Ah well, focus on the bouts and technique I suppose. Still a lot of gold there each day.
Well we have Enho to cheer on in the lower division. As well as a few of the usual favs still left, to cheer and jeer (Ura/Shishi) it will be interesting if Kirishima can stay ahead or if the trailing pack can over take him. Is it time for Wakaflocka to get another yusho?

There are other rikishi, just because it's fun to say Wakatakakage doesn't mean he's going to be a winner. That shit with Shishi on Day 9 (and then the fact he tried it AGAIN the very next day!) and the fact he does obvious, wide horizontal slaps (side to side instead of tsuppari) should be audited, especially if he's supposed to represent gaijin and his sumo-beya.

I'd rather wear Ryuden and the tag of "ポン引きは楽じゃない。" (See: Ryuden in 2021) Hey, I thought it was Kirishima's time again, he's done it in the past. Hopefully Wakamotoharu stops injuring rikishi in practice bouts.
I never thought I'd be *disappointed* to see Wakatakakage win but here we are. Getting another win 4 years later after an injury comeback like this is cool so I won't be mad about it, but I was hoping for Kirishima to take it. If he can't win like this with every serious threat gone he will never ever be Yokozuna. It feels unfair to say though because Ozeki is a big deal on its own.
