The Taylor Swift craze is odd

Parasociality is such a big problem among big artists / musicians (ie. Taylor Swift, BTS, and even old cases like One Direction) and the Internet has made it so much easier to feed into parasociality ideals. People think it's "hip and cool" to be obsessed to a creepy degree with creators because the Internet has shoved it down these 7 year old sperg's throats. It's like a new form of grooming at this point because of how mainstream it has gotten.

In short: a whole generation will be ruined by the Swiftie ideology.

My nigga, did you miss the whole Beetles resurgence a few years ago?
We're on the algorithm ride now, as new generations get on entertainment apps, they'll be directed toward what was historically popular for their age group, and their interests sold by Google to entertainment platforms.
Yeah there's a difference between a long-defunct group getting some boost in popularity due to some meme, or in some cases, the front-runner of a long-defunct band releasing a few songs or a new album under the name. (ELO, Rolling Stones).

But it's more rare for a single artist like Taylor Swift to jump back to mega-popularity as if it was the 2010s again, and the whole thing feels extremely astroturfed.

She’s a basic bitch white girl who appeals to basic bitch white girls, of which there are many. The music industry put all their eggs into brown and black whores like Lizzo, Olivia Rodrigo, Halsey, etc. and with few exceptions, they’re flops. So now they went all in one of the few pop singers that actually make money. How long will it last? Who knows. I think there’s such poor options in mainstream music these days that she might be popular for a long time because nobody wants to hear some negress ook and eek while twerking.

...and that's the other thing, too. As manufactured as all these stars are, there's no shortage of would-bes and hopefuls on social media, so it doesn't make sense on a surface level to promote a "refurbished" model.

I concur with the manufactured hype.

Still, I think Taylor Swift craze is society's yearning for good ol' white supremacy from 2000s before the woke, political correctness and troons.

People still remember the good old times when country song was popular, dudes and gals listen to Swift's classic and reminiscent about their high school drama.

Objectively, Taylor Swift is a white trash. Her songs are about white trash problems. Her concerts are basically white trash celebration.

Taylor Swift remains one of the LEAST political artist to date. She hasn't alienated the left OR right side of the things despite the fact that she is undoubtedly a left wing trash.

That's pretty rare for an artist nowadays.

The west has always been on this conform or be cast out ideology for the longest time despite it's artists not being interesting in the slightest. The population is dumbed down to only appreciate the blandest music imaginable.

Generation Alpha started in 2010-12 and goes to 2024.
The oldest Alphas are 14, meaning there's brand new batch of young girls, right in Tswift's demo, now listening to music.

As Taylor Swift ages and she can no longer justify singing about her stupid breakups, she will probably fade away.

Or she can be that middle age woman who hit the wall and cry about her pathetic relationships. Who knows.

The other day I accidentally disabled the adblocker on my phone and both youtube and spotify flooded me with swift "recommendations" (I don't listen to country, never did, barely listen to pop) and tons of ads.

Whoever thinks this is happening organically is a rube, this is so astroturfed you can see the guys placing the mats but some of you still believe the grass is real.

Yeah, what happened? was it like zoomers wearing nirvana shirts without even knowing it was a band?
And to be in movies she had to be an open shitlib
Pretty sure she is, she was even in that awful movie amsterdam. All that work just for a measly scene where she gets thrown under a car and dies like a generic extra.
Avril Lavigne was better
I remember a lot of girls in my school hating on her saying "she's not even that pretty!".
Carly Rae Jepson
She had that one song and that's it, flash in the pan. Also was never hot, not ugly but mid at best.
I saw greasy fat lesbians (likely in their 50s) unironically wearing MLP gear (backpacks etc).
Weird, was it current MLP shit or the og from the early 80's?
Completely rational and reasonable people, those Swifties.

This is a 10/10 in ohio...

American entertainment its basically all refurbishing now, all movies are remakes or based on existing popular products, if kubrick wanted to make a super expensive movie based on an obscure short story from some british author (2001 ASO) he would be shown the door now. There are barely any brand-new IPs being made and those are given razor-thin budgets and little ad money to promote so most often it flies under the radar. Consider hiphop is still sold as something new and "disrupting" when its about 50 years old by now

I listened to an episode of Jim Florentine's podcast for this week and even though it is not in the descritpion he offers a short, five minute take on Taylor Swift's music. It starts right about at 11:00 in.

He says everything I and others as well. No one knows any of her songs other than "Shake it Off," that it is basically for teen and tween girls but somehow people in their 30s and 40s like it, which demonstrates a state of arrested development, similar to Disney Adults
If someone wants to clip and archive directly that would appreciate, if not that's fine too.
My post seems relevant to this thread as well.

Every girl in her early 20s I know is absolutely obsessed with her. When I was in Greece this summer whenever her song would come on somewhere everyone would go crazy singing along and dancing to it. She's pretty much Elvis/Madonna/Beatles level huge at this point.

I had a teenage family member go to the Taylor swift concert with her mom. Neither of them are big swifties - they just like her music.

Her mom told me it was bizarre. When they got there, the teenage girl started crying? Something about the intense energy of the concert itself.

The description was creepy enough. Reminds me of religious/spiritual experiences people have when you get enough people focused on one thing - like mega churches.

Since I don't really keep up with Current Year American "pop culture", all I know about this Taylor Swift is that she's some singer who one day got super popular for some reason, and there's some political stuff with her. I don't know if I've ever heard any songs she's sung, but I guess they're the typical "Millennial whoop" type of songs.
