The thread where you post your mildly unpopular opinions

I don't think grocery stores should sell live fish as pets. I also don't think 90% of actual pet stores should sell fish. The fish never have enough space or aren't taken care of right, there are always tons of dead fish, it's just bad. Plus they sell tiny-ass bowls without filters marketed like "oh yep this is all you need for your betta! Just this and some tap water and some shit-ass fish flakes!"
I think the only stores that should sell fish are the foofy high-end retailers who market to those guys that make their aquarium their entire life. Nobody else takes even a minute to figure out how to treat a damn fish, and nobody cares about animal neglect when it isn't a cuddly mammal. I'm not obsessed with fish or anything but it just upsets me knowing how many grocery store fish are gonna die because nobody cares about them.

Fish, birds, and reptiles are horribly abused in the pet industry. The commonly accepted standards of space, enrichment, etc. is abysmal. I'd say reptiles have it the worst as even respected voices in the reptile community will say that rack systems are fine when you cannot convince me that they aren't torture.

I think whether to freeze or not depends on the quality of the bread. Good artisan bread should just be kept in a paper bag, and the paper bag it usually comes in is fine. Just eat the stuff before it goes bad or if it goes stale make croutons. Now you can make French onion soup.

That dollar a loaf grocery store bread can be frozen just fine. It's not very good anyway and the detriment is minor. It's crap already, will be crap when you thaw it out, and barely worse. It's what I do if I buy a bunch of loaves about to expire. I use that shit for toast anyway so who cares?

Bread dough, on the other hand, can be frozen just fine. If you make a huge batch of bread dough, you can just split it into loaf-shaped portions and freeze it, AFTER the rise. It will usually continue to rise after thawing out but if it doesn't, it's not a complete disaster. The theory is freezing can kill it, but that generally hasn't happened to me.

Of all places, the general level of discourse on KF is of a higher caliber than on a majority of extant internet boards and forums
It is a good measure of the insanity of mainstream media. According to those liars, we are the vilest hive of iniquity in existence.

Meanwhile if you actually bothered to read the discourse going on here, we are among the sanest fora currently in existence. It says a lot that "mainstream" media is doing its best to destroy us utterly.

There's a reason these scum need to be up against a wall.

It feels like KF is the only place you can actually have a discourse, as in two actual viewpoints. You go on Reddit, Twitter, Tumblr, literally anywhere else and it's like "I agree with you 99.99% but there's 0.01 I don't agree with," "Die, heretic!"

Not even for edgy things either, you could be talking about something as banal as what kind of car gets better mileage in the city or what pizza topping is best and all of a sudden you're downvoted to oblivion, everyone hates you, and somehow you're banned from 15 subreddits you've never even heard of. I could go on for ages about how hostile Reddit is to posting or having a conversation, but I think we're all well aware of that by now. It's like a "Who can make the funniest story for a BoredPanda list??" contest across the whole site.

Mainstream media just wants stuff they can market on. Funny stories about "Just NO Mother-In-Laws!" and "omg crazy photos of mildly interesting things" are super easy to sell ads on, while sometimes edgy and sometimes counter-cultural discussions just aren't. Even if everybody's opinions flip-flopped tomorrow, Kiwifarms' culture still wouldn't be marketable and they'd still hate us just as much. MSM won't be happy until the whole damn Internet's a blank canvas for them to run a fucking billboard on.

I swear I have seen more people here respond to a correction by just saying "yeah I guess you're right about that (but you're still a faggot)" than anywhere currently on the Internet, where any disagreement no matter how well-founded is just responded to with howler monkey bullshit and feces-flinging.

We have some of that of course, it's inescapable, but it's pretty common for people to fight like cats and dogs over one subject but then be able to have a reasonable conversation about another. The kind of people who get irreparably butthurt over a disagreement often end up halal.

This might be my most center left take ever, there is some truth to there being an anti-asian racism problem in america.
I've seen people act like ignorant assholes toward asians in real life in ways they never do towards a black person or a hispanic.
It's uncommon but it does happen. I'm not saying it's whitey's fault or they are the only one that does it, far from it but I've seen it happen like at this asian buffet place I went to a few weeks ago.

Even though I know it’s been done for many years (while being under a different agenda and guise), I despise the term PoC (Person/People of Color). Aside from the sometimes mix of subtle and obvious anti-white sentiments, it almost reminds of me this:

It’s even weirder when actual black people seem to favor this, while whites are just against this. It might just look like an American-ized thing, but it is just so blatant that one won’t be able to ignore it.
