I think a major factor would be shippers losing a lot of the power they currently have, cause a lot of games and especially shows are ruled with an iron fist by the shipping community. Some shows exist just to be lesbian shipping bait for the Tumblr refugees and not much else. So many online memes and the like have been created by said community, and it proves just how obsessed they are.
Everything about Noelle/Susie feels like the second coming of Alphys/Undyne which already was a terrible pairing. And I don't even think its because of gay shipping reasons, Undyne just has no reason whatsoever to like, let alone love, somebody like fucking Alphys.

I've taken notice, like with how the game's graphic design motif across social media, the website, and marketing materials only uses 8-bit white text on a black background, as a way to convey how mysterious it is, or give off the look of a prestige product. The fact that Toby has made some major connections with people like Shimomura, Zun, or even Itoi tells me that Toby wants to be seen as a major "prestige" game creator, held in that same regard.
The only way this does happen is if Tobby makes Kris officially nb and does it to go further up the progressive stack in that way.
So, they put the game on to high of a pedestal largely because of its gimmicks, emotional heart tugging, pandering, and "humor" while disregarding it's true quality as a game and it's questionable messaging/narrative. To me, it always felt like Undertale had an undeserved spot as being one of the greats because of it's theming and gimmick despite it not really being THAT deep. I still believe it was the spectacle that carried the game the same way movie studios will heavily rely on CGI and large set pieces to give off the appearance of substance rather then having any.

Deltarune started as a (literal) fever dream of a videogame ending, he had this dream before he even made undertale, he's always known how it ends

Damn, Deltarune is looking promising since it's exploring the world further (even if it is an Alternate or Parallel Universe - a concept I hate it because fans make it insufferable). If it is "JUST A DREAM" everything will go tits up and will deserve the moniker "Deltatroon". And Toby will have confirmed his kike status to me.
