The Windows OS Thread - Formerly THE OS for gamers and normies, now sadly ruined by Pajeets

Avoid regedit directly. That has a tendency to lead to future problems with updates. Stick with gpedit. Don’t worry too much about bloat. Turn off the startup apps and ignore it. A few hundred megabytes isn’t a big deal. Any browser that supports uBlock origin (or the Brave browser) is good enough.

Also Ease of Access > Turn off unnecessary animations will make everything feel snappy
I am not dismissing your input, but I disagree. "Don't worry about it" is not "good enough". "Ignore it" is not "good enough". Any browser with a baked-in LLM is not "good enough". That is, frankly, gay, if not retarded. Web browsers can be run without integrated LLMs and crypto miners. I know they can, I have seen it, I watched it happen for decades. I am simply asking if there is a preferred way to achieve that functionality in a modern, relatively-secure browser. I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation.

I understand that trying to denigger Windows will always be an uphill battle but that's what I'm here for, if I wanted to close my eyes and cover my ears and acquiesce to a corporation's dick in my ass I wouldn't be posting in this thread.

It sounds like you’re more interested in jerking off to your ability to flip the bird at corporations than providing a usable computing experience to your mom but whatever. Have fun fumbling around with registry hacks every time you go to visit, only for her to call about ‘the computer breaking’ ten minutes after you leave.

Waterfox if you want a Firefox experience with reasonable privacy and no llm shit. Thorium if you want chrome without Google shit.

Besides the furry porn is it good?
I haven't used it since the furry porn discovery a couple years back but when I did use Thorium it was fine. No different than de-googled Chrome or Brave and neither of those have furry porn hidden in them.

LATE UPDATE: I did some digging and the dev for Thorium also had anti-circumcision literature hidden in the website for Thorium and the furry porn was just a joke.

I gave up today and switched to linux. Good luck guys.
Dualboot them, have Windows for vidya and Linux for everything else. I've got the same setup and you can access your Windows drive from Linux, not the other way around though.

Nigger I asked if anybody had a solution to a problem and you replied to tell me to just ignore it, I don't know what you expect me to say to you. "Wow thanks I never thought of it that way"? Yeah I'll just live with the smoke detector beep too, why would I ever fix anything, just ignore it. It's not like I'm talking about black magic here, dead ass I'm just trying to make my mom's user experience not an objective downgrade from her current laptop that doesn't have any of this bullshit in the first place. You goofy retard.

Thanks
I literally gave you advice retard.

I got my my mom an N150 machine with Win 11 and made zero changes. She likes it and says it's quite snappy. I was curious whether such a weak CPU could really be useful, and it was cheap enough I would have gotten her something else if it wasn't working out, but she has no complaints. I'm skeptical about how much all these hacks really change the overall experience.

It's mostly for aesthetic reasons for me. I want my windows to look like Windows XP Classic and I don't want Fag Month shit in my start menu.

Those N150s have 4 gracemont / e cores. They're really good, clock for clock more powerful than Sky Lake so if you think of it as a very power efficient i5 from that era it makes sense the results you see. I got my daughter a chromebook with the N205 which has 8 of those cores, I cannot be convinced normies would ever need more perf than that, on paper it's faster than the 8 core Ivy Bridge Xeon in my 2013 Mac Pro... well for as long as the passive cooling can keep up.

Are they still putting mandatory sodomy celebration in Win 11? I genuinely don't know because I disabled all the news app crap, but that can be done in the settings; no regedit needed.

You mean the N250? Base TDP of 6W, max TDP of 20W. Probably can't maintain that peak for too long, but game consoles in the passively cooled era used under 20W.
