The Witcher Game Series

This is an example of how far CDPR have fallen.
When Witcher 1 came out, the company got together alot of local polish bands to release an album called "Inspired by The Witcher." This was packaged with the international version that I bought way back when. You've got moody tracks from bands like Root Water & Jesus Chrysler Suicide.

To ones that use traditional instruments from bands like Duan and Beltaine

I bring all this up because they simply released this album because they loved the series so much. A small group of polish devs made a game on a borrowed engine that was kinda jank yet playable telling a national story that was popular in their homeland. This appealed to alot of gamers like myself in 2008 that wanted an RPG that wasn't Bioware at the time.
The change then came with Witcher 2. New engine, expanded studio and no 2nd release of a companion album to go along with the enhanced edition. And that's when the shift in the studio happened. It's well known that alot of the staff on the original witcher left by 2 with almost none remaining once 3 was shipped. Instead, CDPR hired westerners and the liberal baggage they carry and that brings us to middle aged Ciri. No one asked for this, no one want this yet they insist this is a product that needs to be made. Instead of a story they want to tell that could appeal gamers and get them interested in the series, it's a product designed by focused groups and shat out designed to appeal to share holders.
I just wanted to highlight how far they've fallen and now that you can see the trajectory, there's only one way this company ends.

The only thing I can say is I hope GoG goes independent once CDPR go under, their work in preservation is too important to be sucked in the inevitable implosion of this studio.

First disks in Russia came with additional goodies. This song included

I'll put up with bull dyke Ciri and a little bit of getting lectured to about how evil men are and wahmyn are strong and beautiful (even Blood and Wine snuck some of it in with the boxing side quest: after beating the masked opponent that turns out to be a woman and she expects Geralt to laugh at her, he comes back with bullshit about "it's the 13th century and women can be anything they want" that just didn't fit the tone) , but these Polack fucks better leave Gwent alone and keep it in the next game. And I don't mean the 2 row bullshit when it became "Homecoming" after coming out of beta, I want classic, spy exploiting, Witcher 3 Gwent. They can even start the quest with Geralt teaching Ciri and passing down his old starter deck to make it a call back for the Gwent beta trailer and you kill some Nilfgaard soldiers together.

Gwent is already confirmed to be in. Out of all the elements that could potential be fucked up I think Gwent is pretty safe.

I'm in the middle of replaying TW3 (finished TW2 a month ago, going the Roche route; I wrote down my thoughts on it but never finished putting them into a coherent form) and I've forgotten how utterly disappointing the Novigrad questline is. When you first reach the city you witness people being burned on pyres, are introduced to the crime lords running the city... and then the game proceeds to barely use any of that in favor of finding Dandelion, fucking around with a play, and then helping Dandelion with his tavern. The King of Beggars is introduced and then pretty much disappears from the game, the psychotic dwarf Cleaver is introduced and then also pretty much disappears. It'd be like if the Velen questline introduced the Bloody Baron and the Crones... then proceeded to have you help Zoltan run a mine.

I do like Novigrad itself, though, which people tend to be split on. I think it's one of the better realized cities in a RPG. It actually feels like a large city bustling with life rather than some small settlement with a dozen NPCs.

Novigrad's main questline must've been quickly rewritten or something, it sucks horribly compared to Velen's and Skellige's. It doesn't even make much sense -- why would Dandelion and Ciri go to Whoreson Junior for help with a magical device rather than literally any other named NPC in that city? Triss had been living there for months and yet apparently wasn't approached for it. The King of Beggars has been helping various mages and alchemists avoid prosecution in the city, yet also was apparently never approached. Instead they go to Whoreson Junior -- a guy known for... running casinos and brothels (and being psychotic).

Even worse, once you finally do rescue Dandelion, he goes on to have like... 20 lines of dialogue throughout the rest of the game. The developers seemed to want to distant the game from TW1&2, so pretty much every returning character gets the shaft. Zoltan's continuing subplots in the first and second games about his (ex)wife and in-laws plus his mine are abandoned. Dandelion gets very little to do. Even Triss originally had very little content but the outcry from fans about that led to them giving her more content in an update (though the speed in which they did it makes me think they just restored cut content for her rather than created new stuff).

There was supposed to be another major questline in the game revolving around a plague that would've featured a ton of returning characters, Iroveth being a major one for the quest. They've never said that they cut it for time or lack of resources, just that it didn't fit what they wanted for the game. Which leads back into my idea that they wanted to distance TW3 from the first two games, probably out of fear of alienating newcomers. It was apparently cut very late in development with most of it done, so I'm surprised they didn't repurpose it as an expansion.

CD projeckt listened and decided to "fix" Ciri

I'm not declaring this woke free yet and I think gamers should still be cautious but this a massive step in the right direction.

Good for them, maybe without USAID they couldn't afford to make her jaw comically huge.

They are still going to make her "optional" bisexual, don't be fooled by this. I could care less whether they make her prettier or even add bunch of lewd outfits and jiggle physics, it'll still suck.

Ciri is bisexual in the books though, I'm confused by this idea that it's some sort of woke retcon by CDPR.
