The Witcher Game Series

I just finished The Witcher 1 for the first time. What a great game, I really enjoyed it. I've only ever played the third game, so I'm going through the whole series and obviously Assassins of Kings is next. I think I like 1 more than 3, although I'm going to replay 3 too since its been a hot minute.

I loved the environments in the game, I think those were its strong suit besides story and characters (even if there were plenty of copy pasted crypt/cave areas). The twist at the end got me too, and I appreciate that they left it sorta open- but you would have to be a retard to not realize the connection.
 
My running theory, at least for Cyberpunk 2077, is that CDPR had designed the system specifically for the canceled multiplayer component, likely because it was some live service shitfest.
Oh they absolutely did. Before the 2.0 rework both clothes and weapons had mod slots and the mods even came in common, uncommon, rare, ultra rare, and legendary qualities with fucking color codes like it was Destiny or something.

Yeah, it was a fucking mess. Its a real damn shame too since 2020 is autistic enough to go into individual calibers for guns, and then assign damages based on those calibers. CDPR absolutely could have and should have adopted weapon scaling based on price and caliber similar to how old-school RPGs did it, perhaps with an overall quality level so you could buy a shitty, heavily-used version of a top-end weapon relatively cheap.

Words can't describe how much I've come to hate Polish game developers specifically.

At least the usual Western cucks have the excuse of having grown up in a dystopian woke hellhole to justify the filth they shit out.

Polish game developers grew up in a homogenous White country that is more religious and conservative than the vast majority of places in the West, and instead of capitalizing on their success, largely built on the fact their games didn't look like the usual leftist dreck we have been subjected to in the past decade, they go out of their way to sabotage themselves by emulating the same retards whose companies have been imploding for years now.

Add the usual Slav management issues on top and you can see why Cyberpunk 2077 ended up being what it is.

I have zero hope for anything CDPR shits out next, since it's all going to be an escalation of Marxist propaganda as they speedrun BioWare's company history.

Also, I'll be pretty shocked if the vampire Witcher copy ex-CDPR devs are making ends up not being infested with shitlibery.

The shitty way they handled the PS4 Pro and PS5 Pro is a fine example.

For Witcher 3, they claimed they didn't have the resources to do another major patch for the game, but suddenly they did when the XBox One X was released, and even then it took months for them to finally announce a patch for PS4 Pro after they released one for the One X.

Cyberpunk 2077, the PS5 Pro comes out, they say they lack resources to patch in support, which is bullshit as it wouldn't require much more than uncapping a few things to make it take advantage of the machine, but then they port the game to TWO other platforms, Switch 2 and MacOS, which undoubtedly took a LOT more effort than adding a couple of new options to an existing build. They couldn't even be bothered to enable a 40FPS mode for 120Hz displays.

Most people probably don't recall that CDPR actually tried to sue pirates of Witcher 2 back when it came out. Their whole shtick pretending to be a pro-costumer company is a deliberate ploy.

Also, they only released Witcher 3 modding tools when they decided to drop support for their in-house engine, years after most of the community had moved on and there was little interest in modding the game, making the move a completely mercenary PR stunt to regain their "good guy dev" status after the fiasco that was the launch of Cyberpunk 2077.

And on the topic of 2077, they didn't spend all those millions unfucking the game because they care, but because they're at least aware that having a positive reputation among costumers translates in more profits.

That being said, and this has probably been repeated ad nauseum here and elsewhere, the marketing for 2077 was amongst the scummiest in the industry. Not even EA or Ubisoft at their worst were this blatantly misleading. For one, they deliberately shot one of the trailers to make it appear the timeskip montage was actually gameplay, that you'd get to do all those things ala GTA5, instead of the gameworld being largely dead and static.

Then there was them deliberately lying to owners of the PS4, and driving around slowly in the gameplay trailer for it, to not make it too obvious that the game would shit itself due to the console's inability to stream in assets fast enough.

It's also obvious they've been bleeding talent for years. They've dropped REDengine because the guys that had built it and maintained it had quit the company and there was nobody left that could do it. Most of their talented writers are gone, and the company is increasingly being staffed by Californian dangerhairs.

It's telling that Cyberpunk 2 is being made by their US studio, which is full of woke shitlibs.

But even then it's still bizarre given the earlier gameplay footages had the correct shading. It took a fan modder for HD Restoration to look as it should which became the next gen update (which runs like dogshit and looks way worse on PC with TAA and other slop lmfao). I lost faith in CDPR after the next gen disappointment. Runs nice on PS5, but on PC it's unforgivable trades. Thankfully you can play older versions. DX11 runs more stable than the DX12 version but it's still off last I played (2023).

I hate those dumb-ass MMO-like systems where everything's a fucking sidegrade except for its tier or level. Gear absolutely should be segregated by cost and effectiveness. A top-of-the-line Arasaka marksman rifle should be straight-up better than some Slavshit that's been horribly maltreated by its Scav owner, to say nothing of the DESIGNATED SHITTING WEAPONS from Darra Polytechnic.

After having completed the game the first time a while ago, i now know to just get few of the iconic/unique weapons as fast as possible, then scrap every gun i find for components to feed the unique weapons tier.
It kinda fucks the fun out of finding higher grade random weapons.
Okay the only weapon that doesnt happen with immediately is a suppressed pistol since the best unique thats a suppressed pistol is in the end part of the DLC.
(you used to be able to suppress revolvers).

Wasnt that a thing in witcher 3 too with the lady of the lake sword? You could just do a new game + and keep it with you, if i recall it could increase its level if you got kills without being damaged, or did it level with you?

Yes, if you got enough kills in a row without taking damage, it would permanently increase its damage, thus making it the only sword in the game capable of infinitely leveling.

And yeah, some of the Iconics are straight-up busted, others not so much. Widowmaker, Buzzsaw, Fenrir, and Overwatch are all my top guns there. The Iconic shotguns are all pretty shit with the 2.0 changes, Sovereign no longer acting as the Doom super shotty and Headsman losing its crit-seeking and limb-wrecking.
 
cdpr almost killed itself shitting out cp77 and now they are making like 4 fucking games at the same time. as someone who preordered that shitpile and didnt even bother with the dlc i wish only bad things to those polish faggots
