Second and third are something I probably wouldn't think of. Is the answer ever a plain plural though, adding an S to the end of a word?

With R in the middle, S won't ever be in the 2 or 4 spot. L can't be 2 spot and is unlikely to be 4, either. So vowels are super likely in those spots,, meaning the consonants are in the 1 and 5. So by the third, I'm looking for new consonants with optimal vowel placement, without repeating pre-played letters. BITEY accomplishes that well.

After that, I have R S L I and don't need much more help to get it. GIRLS is probably not the optimal play there, but burning the I in the 2 spot is the bonehead move, not necessarily plural. Playing the plural was mostly to confirm the S and L placement, which misses in that turn effectively do. I was ADHD spazzing through since I won't lose with another full turn after.

"I call the big one, Bitey!"
