The Worst Shows You Used to Watch When You Were a Kid - I.E. Childhood shows that make you cringe in retrospect.

My absolute worst is Wish Kid, a really lame cartoon about a kid with a magic baseball mitt that grants wishes. Sounds awesome, except for the the part where the wish always runs out, always at the most inconvenient moment, and the rest of the episode is spent getting out of the trouble that caused. I was 4 and didn't have the tolerance for this predictable shit. Considering it was cancelled after a whopping 13 episodes I was far from the only one who felt that way.

Coming in at a very close second is the Secret Life of Toys. This show was a sequel series to the 1986 Christmas special The Christmas Toy, which was not that good. The show manages to be a lot worse, go figure, with most of the characters being borderline or full retarded. If I had my way, I wouldn't have watched it at all. Unfortunately my dad got it in his head that I should absolutely be watching this mess and made me watch it every Saturday. Even when I got my own TV he'd still make me watch it, to the point where he'd come in my room during it's airtime to make sure I was watching it. By then I wasn't going to put up with it anymore though, and I'd secretly watch whatever was on Nick, on low volume, and simply change the channel when I'd hear him coming. He didn't even question the low volume because he ordered me to keep it very low in the first place.

Edit: Forgot to mention Wish Kid was something else my dad forced me to watch until the day it was mercifully taken off the air, because my dad is very controlling. Not that he sees it that way.

Trust me, things have only gotten worse for Woody since then.

Ok don't wanna derail this thread but I wanna say it doesn't look that bad definitely toon boom friendly but at least they didn't calarts-ify him like they did thunder cats.

To stay on topic of have to say the brother's flub and butt ugly Martians, those shows are proof that Nickelodeon wasn't perfect in the 90s/early 2000s. And the worst part iircc bum was made rain maker aka the studio behind reboot and transformers beast wars

Walker: Texas Ranger. As an adult I think it's hilarious so-bad-it's-good fun, but I was an unironic fan as a kid.

Also Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the first cartoon from the 80s/90s was really bad. The first movie was pretty good, then the other movies sucked, and then I was too old for any of the (apparently better) future cartoon series. And the less said about the god awful live action TV show the better.

Baby Follies. We only had the Irish channels when I was young and this played on the Irish language channel at a time when there were no other cartoons on, so at the time it was better than nothing.

I don't know if hearing it in Irish made it worse, but it had this really weird and creepy fixation on one of the girl babies being 'sexy'. She was based on Lauren Bacall so they could do a Casablanca thing with another baby as Humphrey Bogart which flew right over the head of any kid watching. One entire episode revolves around her accidentally doing the Marilyn Monroe skirt-over-the-grate panty flash and the other babies trying to get her to do it over and over.

The movie Bugsy Malone . It's not a bad movie, and the soundtrack by Paul Williams is really catchy, but looking back on it today, you can't help but feel serious Pedo Vibes, especially every scene involving Jodie Foster. I didn't see anything wrong with it when I watched it as a kid, though.

I unironically loved Chuck Norris movies when I was a young boy in the ‘80s. And I know for a fact I was not alone in that.

Nickelodeon Shows:

* Inspector Gadget
* Hey Dude
* Livewire
* Turkey Television
* Tomorrow People
* The Secret Life of Alex Mack
* Roundhouse
* All That (Maybe an unpopular opinion, but Amanda Bynes should never have been on TV.)
* Fifteen (How did Ryan Reynolds end up getting so many acting jobs??)

Good Nickelodeon Shows:

* You Can't Do That on Television
* Danger Mouse
* Pinwheel
* Out of Control (AKA: The ONLY time Dave Coulier was ever funny)
* Double Dare
* Rocko's Modern Life
* Doug (before Disney bought it and fucked it up)

I'm old...
I remember all of those shows, guess I'm going to be old with you. I still remember the Adventures of Pete and Pete, it was weird but enjoyable.

I can't believe no one's mentioned the various Super Mario Bros. cartoons yet. Awful in every respect, and yet somehow it almost never dipped into "so bad it's funny" territory.
I was going to bring them up in my next post of shit I'd watch willingly, since my first post got a bit long. But yeah, it was obvious that Dic had no idea what the fuck they were doing, since the first cartoon featured a bunch of SMB2 bosses and enemies hanging out with Bowser King Koopa while nobody did anything even remotely Mario related. And while later they did finally include more appropriate enemies and actually did Mario related things in actual game areas we had riveting storylines like King Koopa kidnaps Milli Vanilli for his bratty daughter, and two of the Koopalings want to go to school. Didn't stop me from watching it, though. But back when YTPs were a big thing I could barely watch the Mario cartoon ones without feeling the cringe, even when the YTP was funny.

Oddly enough I had zero tolerance for Dic's Sonic cartoon.

I'm going to be old with both of you, too. Minor disagree though with All That because while Amanda Bynes wasn't that great, Kenan and Kel were fucking hilarious and easily carried the show. I doubt I could watch anything besides maybe their best skits now, though.

Kenny the shark was pretty weird. Also the original transformers anime was pretty weird

Also didn't nickelodeon have their own version of survivor or something? Flight 101 or some gay shit

Edit: flight 29 down was the cringe nickelodeon discount survivor. Worst part about it was not the cringe acting, but the horribly unrealistic plane crash.

How the fuck do you perfectly land on a beach and not have any injuries or damage to the hull??? I know it's a kids show but still

remember the AIDS episode
The one that got me was the episode based on the Goiania accident. I’ve always found that incident very disturbing (basically, improperly disposed of hospital equipment got stolen by scrap merchants who didn’t know what it was, they took the caesium home, killed and maimed lots of people including a little girl who ate it).

One I rediscovered recently was Around the World with Willy Fog, which was this Spanish funny animal adaptation of Around the World in 80 Days. Loved it as a kid. As an adult, you can tell that they really cheaped out on the translation and a lot of the jokes are just cringe. Catchy theme song though.

I doubt anyone here knows about Baby Huey, but it was an old comic from the 50s about an overgrown retarded baby duck that had a few cartoon adaptations. It was brought back in the 90s and was obviously influenced by Ren and Stimpy because I mainly remember Baby Huey constantly shitting himself.
You woke up a memory I should have left dormant. I myself never liked this, but I watched it anyways because it was in the same cartoon block that would later air Slam Dunk and Rurouni Kenshin.

I'll also add another one: the Dungeons & Dragons 80's cartoon that didn't even have an ending. It was alright for me when I was little, though even back then I didn't know why the designated knight couldn't have a sword, but now it seems trite. Neither of the characters are particularly memorable, save for their worse traits. Plus they didn't know if they should follow the source material to a T or do their own thing. Also, whenever that fucking unicorn neighs, my urge to kill rises, preferrably her and the stupid barbarian kid who always sided with her.
Worst, it's become quite the cult classic here in Brazil. I'd say it's the third most popular 80's cartoon here, after He-Man and the Thundercats. Guess airing this shit over and over makes one build a tolerance that becomes enjoyable.

Keenan and Kel were phenomenal. But IMHO they focused way too much on Amanda. She objectively (like most females) wasn't funny, constantly did that exaggerated mugging that females do (I just said a funneh! Aren't I funneh! Why aren't you laughing at my funneh?) same thing that Zoophilia Deschanel does although I never watched any shows she was in--was just eye raped by commercials.

Pete and Pete were fantastic! But I thought it was sad(?) pathetic (?) that Danny Tamborelli basically got pigeonholed into making constant "guest" appearances on other Nick shows as opposed to either moving on, retiring from acting altogether, or literally anything besides being a discount "celebrity square" guest. I felt like he was going the Paul Lynde route.

Okay: Here's a few REALLY bad ones from my Saturday morning childhood:

* Kidd Video
* Galaxy High
* Monchichi
* Shirt Tales
