Not a franchise, but people called them this anyway. Pretty much these games, Xenogears, Xenosaga, Xenoblade, and Xenoblade X are made by Tetsuya Takahashi, the man behind Monolith Soft currently owned by Nintendo. These are pretty much one of the most fascinating games out there. These games(with a exception of Xenoblade) deals with Religion, Psychology, and Philosophy for very human themes usually taking place on a painful world. It's one of the more questionable games where you like them or not. Here's my thoughts on each one.

Xenogears: I really identified with both Fei and Elly's struggles as they went through a lot. The other characters like Citan, and Bart are also great while the other half of the playable cast is not as interesting. The gameplay is surprising fun being able to learn more combos while taking part of Gear fights. The one thing that hold the game back was disk 2. The game suffered from budget issues so its more story compared to the gameplay. Still it was one heck of a experience.

Xenosaga: I enjoyed the story side in Ep.1 while yes, the gameplay is not as interesting. Mechs are useless, and dungeons were long for the sake of it. Ep.2 I need to play more of it while I did think the gameplay was the weakest aspect. Ep.3 is the best one despite being rushed as hell storywise. Gameplay felt fun especially the mech fights, those are the best.

Xenoblade: While I think Gears had the best story, Xenoblade is my favorite game of all time. I loved the concept of traveling in a fallen titan-god. The world is massive being able to explore everywhere without any invisible walls. It helps that it takes advantage of the Wii's technology and it looks very gorgeous. The music is also a high point giving everything such energy to it.

I heard a rumor that Xenogears was supposed to be the plot of Final Fantasy VII but they thought it was too "controversial" to be in the Final Fantasy series. I fucking love Xenogears. Fei Fong Wong was kind of a melodramatic lolcow, but Citan is one of the most badass RPG characters of all time and I would rock, clap, and laugh like an autistic person watching MLP for the first time if I heard they were doing a remake.

This, just this. Albedo was the creepiest motherfucker I've ever had the pleasure to beat in a video game. Kefka seriously has nothing on this guy.

I used to love the Xeno series until Xenoblade came out. It was so strange, I hope they do a better job with X.

I've only played Xenoblade, and I thought that was quite good myself. Lots of places to go, lots of quests, lots of content, and a pretty decent story and cast of characters to boot.

I'm really liking Aliens vs. Predator 2010. Crawling around on the walls isn't as simple as it was in AvP 2000, but playing as the Xenomorph is a hell of a lot less disorieting than it was in AvP 2000. I also really want to play Alien Isolaton, but...

...wait, what do you mean that's the wrong Xeno?

Too bad the Alien has the shortest campaign. Gotta have that Spessh Muhreen action.

I know it's never going to happen, but I'd love to see Squeenix complete and re-release Xenogears.

Also, Rico was awesome. RPGs need more wrestlers.

I miss this series. I just wish the creators were allowed to finish it the way they wanted to finish it.

Some trivia: That scene was censored in the American release. He was suppose to cut his own head off with a knife. IMO, having Albedo remove his own head with his bare hands made that scene better anyway.

A bunch of news from yesterday.

New trailer for Xenoblade X with a release date of April 29th in Japan.

New footage on the Xenoblade remake. Footage looks a lot better then the other videos.

First Xeno game I played was Xenoblade a few years ago but I never finished it because things got in the way. But I a month ago got Xengears mainly because I've been obsessed with Gnosticism having read the major scriptures and I heard Xenogears was heavily based on it so I had to play it. I also got the Xenosaga trilogy in the mail a few days ago and I plan on playing the whole Xeno series from beginning to end and tofinally finish Xenoblade.

So far with Xenogears I've been loving almost everything about it, I'm really enthralled with the story and find the characters so far to be likable and identifiable. Game play wise I find it really fun, but I find Deathblows annoying to grind and hate the unskippable text. A lot of people say the plot is convoluted or hard to follow, but so far I've been able to follow everything and have a general idea of where things are going, probably because of my existing knowledge of Religion, Psychology and Philosophy because I see a lot of themes and ideas I already know about. I'll probably post my final thoughts on it once I'm done.

Looking back, I really liked how Xenoblade Chronicles had optional conversations between every possible pair of party members. Really fleshed out the chemistry between them all and it's something not very many JRPG's have done from what I played. In most other JRPG's, it's not out of the ordinary for certain party members to almost never interact with certain other party members. As much as I love FFIX and its characters, I don't think there was ever an instance where say... Steiner and Freya would have a short conversation with each other. You would think they would as they both come from similar positions.

I know some of y'all will sperg out at me for posting a link from Cucktaku but they actually did some original reporting instead of aggregating from somewhere else:

http://kotaku.com/the-real-story-behind-xenogears-unfinished-disc-2-1796151112

tl;dr: It wasn't that they allocated funds/staff towards the vastly inferior Final Fantasy 8, but they were simply pressed by the deadline due to having a lot of newer staff and stalled production. The execs suggested they end the game after the escape from Solaris (the end of disc 1), and the abbreviated disc 2 was the compromise.

OMFG, GUYS!

This game's getting censored by the evil pro-leftist Nintendo!

Look at this man's video as he speaks the truth about this game.......

What a freaking minute?

I think my favorite thing about Xenosaga is that Deus is (sorta) in Xenosaga but spends its time getting slapped around by KOS-MOS and later T-ELOS (offscreen iirc)
tbh neither one is a pushover

Now you know where he got the idea from for the little angels that attack your party during his fight.
