Manga tends to be batshit - let's talk about it. Can be anything - a cover, a panel, pages, dialogue, themes etc.

I'll start with something that isn't to do with Junji Ito. I find stitches being used in ways that violate the body unnerving, so when a particular double spread from Franken Fran showed up my stomach churned in disgust:

Frankenstein Fran is almost cheating because every chapter kind of ends up like that.
I remember being about middle school-age, and coming across the manga for The Grudge. The scene where the cars rip the girl’s jaw off really stuck with me at the time.

A Trail of Blood is all kinds of disturbing. Basically what happens when your mom is insane and will not give you any sense of independence.

That whole sequence rattled me to the core when I first read it.

I remember buying crappy Chinese (?) copies of JoJo part 3 back in the late 90s and one kill really grossed me out.

Otherwise, usually unphased.

So, The Enigma of Amigara Fault is about human shaped holes popping up out of nowhere on the side of a mountain. There is no end to be found in these, not even wire cameras are long enough Only specific people can enter "their hole" , other people cannot fit in holes that weren't made for them. For some reason, people are drawn to these holes and walk into the mountain. Over the next few days, more and more people enter the holes and are gone.

Some months later, more holes have been unearthed on the other side of the mountain, but their are seemingly random shapes. Someone looks inside one hole and finds this charming fellow.

It's not really the art or the fact that people get deformed that freaks me out, but the way people are drawn to their own self-destruction and the unknown horror that awaits anyone entering the mountain. Also, I am a claustrophobic bitch so...yeah. Also, I typed "hole" way too many times, makes me feel like an assho-

Corpse Party is great, and the manga adaptation was awesome. Corpse Party: Musume, however, is super gross while still expected to scare you. It keeps all the elements of the series, but it ecchifies everything. Which includes demonic tentacles, over-fetishizing pee, bare asses and chests (lolis included), and the rape of a loli even as she lay a mangled, dying mess. Take my word for it, it's fucked even by Corpse Party standards.

If it helps...

Corpse Party is an incredibly abused franchise. Thafnine did a video on it and even he could see the loli pee fetish fan (dis)service for what it was.

I wasn't really scared by Uzumaki, but the part where doctor put the baby back almost made me throw up.
I have a funny story about that chapter.

When I first read Uzumaki I'd actually bought it as a birthday present for myself and I couldn't put it down. My dad, being the good Southern Christian dad he was, decided to flick through the book while I wasn't in my room. No prizes for guessing which page he saw first.

He decided to try and stage an intervention but my mom dissuaded him from doing so because I was an adult and I could decide what I wanted to read. The page never left him, though.

I would have paid to see a Junji Ito collar with H. R. Giger. That would be some super detailed art, that you can't help to admire but wish to unsee. lol

Not sure if any of you would be familiar with it, but there’s a series called Erogros that’s absolutely horrifying. One of my friends posted it in a server I was in a while ago, and it’s just…something else entirely. It is hentai which makes it somehow even worse, but the sight of a girl with her eyes gouged out and forced into her nipples will never leave me.

Once upon a time I read a series of articles about Junji Ito manga, by Bogleech. Who has his own lolcow topic here. I thought I knew scary but that shit, even second hand, broke something in my head. So much so that I don't even want to click the spoilers here. Seeing that stuff once is enough for me.

Uzumaki and the Enigma of Amigari Fault were two that lodged in my brain. Another couple were the one where little kids slowly turn into porcelain dolls and then into something else, and the one with a rogue living planet that does things to the astronauts who tried to explore it.

Real squicky body horror, makes Cronenberg look like he was making direct-to-streaming Disney movies.
