What things make you angry in games?

For me it's the wolves in Rust. Once the little bastards see you, you're fucked. If you don't have a bow and arrow, there's nothing you can do but run. You can't fight it with a regular melee weapon like a rock or a hatchet because it kills you in about two hits.

The game holding your hand constantly. Yes game, I can see that I can hit that boss now, I don't need you zooming in on him every time. Yes game, I can see that log I can slide under. No game, I don't need random reminders on how to use my shit.

Games that are one playthrough. It pisses me off when games have no ability to replay earlier levels and forces you to play again from the very beginning. I'm looking at you Legend of Spyro.

"optional missions". Why does it call it an optional mission when it treats your failure of doing said optional mission as a very bad thing? They make the main mission feel more restrictive, you have less freedom to complete it your way.

The spell "Risan" from Skies of Arcadia. "50% chance of reviving an ally", more like "waste of SP and MP".

Thankfully, once you learn "Riselem", you can tell "Risan" to suck your dick.

Boss fights with QTE finishers. Seriously, why? I hate working to take down a boss' health, and then watching him refill half of it because I screwed up the stupid flashy finisher. Can't I just smack him one last time and watch him keel over?

If you MUST have QTEs in boss fights, do the FFXIII-2 thing and just make it grant you an optional bonus or something. Don't make it mandatory to finish the fight.

Playing Dark Souls or Demon's Souls in new game + or beyond where I fight the Four Kings and the Maneater. I don't care if people say they are the best boss because I just honestly hate those bosses. The kind where you get some time limit in trying to kill one be the other appears and the enviroment either has a lack of perception (The Abyss) or fall to your death (the bridge with the Maneater).

One thing that angers me in games is Oblivion with the Dark Brotherhood. I don't care what Lucien Lachance says, I'm not interested. Just because I killed a civilian or guard doesn't mean I'm interested in joining some assassin's guild. Shouldn't there be some requirement other than killing some random average Joe to get a visit from Lachance? Even then I have no interest in joining the group but still. Same goes for the Thieves Guild, I assault some guard and after facing jail time, I get some letter that ask me to join the Thieves Guild? So the Gray Fox wants some random guy who commits assault to join? It better be for fighting off Solid SnakeI know the Gray Fox from Oblivion isn't the same as the one from MGS but still I just can't help but think of Metal Gear thanks to that

The fact that you hate the two best guilds in TES saddens me.

Actually I don't hate the guilds, I'm not interested in joining them with the character I use. I do like the thieves guild in Morrowind but I don't like the Dark Brotherhood since my first ever encounter with them was in Tribunal. Didn't mind joining them in the Daggerfall demo though. (Apparently, being a mass murderer is what got me the letter from them.)

As much as I love me some Black Flag, I have to agree with these points. It gets pretty stupid when I have literally upgraded my ship to be the best that it can be but the game keeps encouraging me to press on the up arrow to see a harpooning event. Gee, I have the Great White armor, maybe I've figured out harpooning and crafting by now.

True story: I was working on getting the cheevo in L4D2 for getting the garden gnome in Dark Carnival and carrying it onto the evac chopper. Haven't gotten it yet, but that's because I either lose track of it during the finale or get swamped by a Tank during the last rush to the chopper.

On one occasion, I put it down in Chapter 4 to fend of a particularly large wave of zombies when the player using Rochelle picks it up and chucks it into an area I can't reach. Killed him on principle, then quit because I was too pissed to make another attempt.

Games with too many weapons. This is one of the reasons I hated Borderlands so much. Every few minutes, you pick up a new gun, and oh gotta check the stats screen this one's got a couple of green arrows and one red arrow but that one's got blue text and green arrows yellow text red text red arrow green arrow shotgun submachine gun green arrow sniper rifle red arrow blue text green text where's the fun stat?

While I'm bashing on Bored-erlands, here's another reason I disliked it: huge banks of lockers you have to search individually. Fucking why? How did nobody go, "Hey, maybe we should make this less tedious." Do the Fallout 3 "one locker opens and then a subwindow pops up" thing. Alternately, get off my hard drive and I'll go play Fallout 3.

Also, gimmick bosses (for the most part). I'm looking at you, FFXIII Eidolon battles.

Borderlands is an RPG first and foremost. It's large pools of weapons allow the player to focus on different builds for individual characters.

Like for shotguns for instance there is a bar that shows how many rounds can be ejected from the clip before reloading. Different character builds can prefer different amounts instead of damage. Some classes can boost the player's reload time for instance so he doesn't have to worry so much. Others boost damage so you can prefer one with a larger clip. There's also how different manufacturers for weapons focus on different things. Like Tediore guns not only look different but the player throws them after reloading and causes them to explode. Others like Jacobs focus primarily on damage for their weapons but their rate of fire and ammo pools are always very low.

Borderlands capitalizes on the same design philosophy as Diablo. Likewise the game is also better in multiplayer.
