It's so apparent to me, many people are "right" or "left", simply because the "other side" has the "wrong" beliefs.
I believe today, being left-wing or right-wing mean very little. You have right-wing people yelling about the status quo just as you have left-wing people doing the same. All while using thinly veiled straw men against each other.
But I don't believe the world is that simple, we're not "right-wing" or "left-wing", we simply have different beliefs and solutions to the world's problems, right?
Personally, if we were to use the "left-right" divide, I might call myself rather left-wing, I want the best for people and all that stuff, and I don't like big corporations abusing the populace willy-nilly.
But that doesn't mean I'm a leftist, colored-hair having, rabid trans-supporter, does it?

All these people mindlessly buying into all the beliefs you need to have to be part of the "left" or the "right" are basically mindless drones.
I don't know, I'm not very smart, but that's my take.

If you're "left wing" because you hate the "right", you're retarded.
If you're "right wing" because you hate the "left", you're retarded.
If you stand by your beliefs, No matter what they may be, you're one among few.
 
It's the classic "my dad can beat up your dad" but applied to politics. It's all so useless. People seem to have no idea that they are allowed to be moderate or like candidates from a number of parties. It doesn't help that the left and the right seem to come complete with their own built in set of pet issues and a lot of candidates may just be afraid to rock the boat. If you are all for Issue A then you gotta bring it's fat sister Issue B along for the ride or everyone thinks you're a terrible person. And a retard.
 
I don’t even look at issues as left or right anymore, I view them as either rational or batshit fucking crazy.
 
That's because people forgot that politics isn't so simple, and they forcibly simplify it, stripping it of everything.
And so you get 14 years old that talk the current flavour of gender, social, and geographical politics without even understand half of what he's really saying, just parroting whatever he heard on the social network of choice.

I think what I was trying to say was, if you're a mindless drone buying into the right or the left - completely and wholeheartedly, I don't think you've thought very hard.
You can be left-wing and disagree with LGTBTBBHQWHG++ doctrines just as you can be right-wing all the same.
I don't like this whole package deal idea that if you're left-wing you're automatically associated with whatever-the-fuck, and if you're right wing, you're associated with another whatever-the-fuck.

Well its nice and all to be the most special snowflake ever, who only ever follows their own heart and never runs with the crowd like some dumb lemming. The reality is that politics in general is a team sport, you need lots of people to make any kind of change, so sometimes you work with people you don't like or don't even agree with because you need to compromise.

Sometimes you find yourself on the side of some terrible people and get called out on it so you shift your positions. Its just as foolish to be a lemming as it is to assume everyone else is being a lemming. Maybe some people have reasons for their beliefs that go beyond what they can articulate on social media.

My point is, everyone's a nigger faggot, myself included, but maybe theirs a reason. Not always a good one, but a reason none the less.

This is broadly called "being in the middle of a political realignment".
We all are. It sucks. Traditional labels don't consistently apply the way they used to. You gotta ride it out. My advice is to notice it but not invest in it.

I don't know, I'm not talking about the Left or the Right ---
I'm talking about people who say they're left-wing or right-wing, not because of their beliefs. But just simply to fit in.
Currently it seems to be "cool" to be left wing, so obviously if you're retarded with no political views you would label yourself "LEFT".
The same would happen if right-wing views were in vogue.

Part of that is inherent to how normal, not politically obsessed people interact with politics. You will see sheep following the herd surrounding them, probably for the rest of your life.
You gotta make your peace with that. They're going to flip multiple times themselves. And you don't know what drives their thinking, even if you think it's just to fit in culturally. I've run afoul of that assumption a whole lotta times.

Yeah, but how do you know that you aren't the sheep? If we're all doomed to think we're the gigachad and everyone who disagrees with us is a soyjack, how do we even know that our beliefs or assumptions are the right ones or not?

When you've seen the herd move a few times around you, you recognize the patterns. When you've watched the wolf lie with the lambs and what that bears, you will know.
Some of those who witness the horror second hand snap out of it. Most do not, they find a more formidable shepherd instead.
In terms of practical advice, find those who are consistent despite the changing tides. They bear the same cross you wish you bear.
