It's so strange the overwhelming need many people have to reinforce their own opinions and feelings in every single aspect of their lives. They can't tolerate any dissent at all.

I don't think the Jews are secretly behind every bad thing in the history of humanity, but that doesn't mean I have a meltdown and start trying to correct the record with "ACHTUALLY" every time someone on KF insinuates that. I just move on with my life and realize that there will always be people who do and say and believe things that I disagree with.

The standard of trolling has fallen dramatically since the golden days of Usenet, FidoNet, BBSs etc.

Trolling - or flaming as it was known in those days - was an artform. A beautiful combination of poetry, sophistry and savagery.

One of the great artisans of the era is an abbo named Rod Speed.

Unfortunately, many of his greatest hits have been lost to sands of time. Though I suspect if one were to explore the deepest darkest reaches of Usenet and/or FidoNet, some remnants may remain.

That being said, Rod appears to have been active on Usenet newsgroups as recently as 2021. (A)

In the mainstream, the closest thing to old-timey flaming these days is copypasta. Whilst copypasta is a lot of fun, it lacks the impact of a good flame. Mainly because each flame was constructed by hand. Even those that used recycled phrases, such as the ones Rod Speed churned (and may still churn) out, were tailored to the recipient.

tl;dr: OP is a bundle of sticks stacked so high that, if set alight, would make the last 5 years worth of Canadian wildfires look like the campfire at a boy scout jamboree.

A bag that weighs 5kg seems like a seriously overconstructed bag. Just to hold itself together, when the bag alone weighs 5kg, you've got to be talking about some very serious material. Presumably it is also quite large, as a certain amount of flexibility is required to still be considered a bag. Are we talking some sort of carbon fiber sack with a 6 gallon capacity here? Or is this one of those level 3a bulletproof backpacks you can get? I actually have one of those, but its only a standard sized backpack and I think weighs only around 3kg. Or is it 1kg? I'm not sure, as you can tell by my ownership of a bulletproof bag, I'm too American to reliably remember which way the lb to kg conversion goes. Anyways, I don't know offhand what the density of pigshit is, but I'm thinking the thick part of the whole setup is most likely the bag. Especially if the bag is sized specifically for the volume of the contents. Seriously, when was the last time you hefted something where a full third of the weight was in bag material?

I'll certainly agree that flaming has lost its glory; however, I do not see it as the only form of trolling. There are other disciplines in the field of trolling. Troll logic and arguments are a favorite of mine. Playing dumb and misinterpreting a part of someone's statement in a somewhat reasonable way is often a good start. With or without that, continue by pushing a series of often ignored and unaddressed facts, adding in a barely detectable pinch of whimsy, and playing to a couple of commonly agreed upon ideas to weave together some really weird argument that no one has a set response ready for. It can make for a wonderful little derailment as the responses come in. Continuing to reinforce the argument made (possibly slightly mutating it along the way) might be a possibility, depending on what responses do come in, but it is often safer to just let the single post lay there and work passively.

Sadly, the heyday of that form also seems to have mostly passed. It was particularly well suited for 2008-2013 reddit, as the comment structure allowed you to immediately spawn a giant web of conversation and back then such thunk-provoking bullshit was highly praised by the voter-base. Also due to the comment web it was often possible to find one or two replies that tried to address a point or two in the argument but did a bad enough job you could chime in with a response to counter them and strengthen the idea, without it being directly obvious that you were ignoring the quality rebuttals. Even without those luxuries, it is quite possible in any forum setup that allows reasonable discourse(Which is why reddit is now off the table), and it is highly effective at adding a dozen or so posts and slightly derailing the topic at hand.

Somewhere over the years, people lost the ability to just scroll on by or, if someone is so annoying that nothing they post makes up for the annoyance, ignoring posters. Even here it's pretty easy to avoid things that might piss you off if you want - just don’t read threads that involve shit that makes you more angry than interested. Participation is entirely voluntary.
