Thomas the Tank Engine Thread - The place for fellow autists to gather around and discuss the rising inflation in Sodor.

  • Happy Easter!
I think I either pointed it out in this thread or another one that the topic came up but Jay Jay was originally something similar to Thomas production wise, but was the first one of these things to reboot itself as a cheap cgi nightmare show and naturally suffered for it immensely.

Anyway, thanks for that lore book -- I had no idea Thomas had such deep lore, as I'm mostly a Thomas buyfag/toyfag. I'd also like to find scans of the Hanes Thomas guidebook, as well as the ones they did for Bob the Builder and Roary the Racecar. And can this be the designated pooping street to vent about Mattel's awful management of the line, especially for wooden railway? At this rate I yearn for the Wood line, even with the partial paint jobs because at least we got new trains then. The Minis are fun, at least (series 26 had some really cool space trains and there was a cool racing Flynn and some underwater trains in series 25), but even those have been significantly cut back. Considering that Barney is getting primed as the replacement to Thomas, I'm probably gonna go full Lee at some point kek

Also, here's Thomas as Sasuraiger:

I’ve been dying to see a thread on those blue engine bastards for far too long now. ‘Bout time I found it.

Anyways, I’ve had my hand dealt against those devils in disguise myself ever since I started going online. Mainly for the usual schtick of bashing the ol’ fags and what not. That’s what I ain’t here for, oh no.

I’m here to discuss this community’s presence on N3V’s Trainz Railroad Simulator franchise. While researching and helping out a fellow pal creating 243 real life miles route of the ENTIRE PRR mainline from my hometown to Philadelphia, the Thomas side of it is hell incarnate.

Only ten percent of it is manageable. Hell, only reason why is cause of how nostalgic it is to me. I grew up on some of them vids so naturally I go outta my way to rewatch the originals or remakes of the same vids.

Now the 90% rest of it? It’s horrendously bad.

Here’s one fine example of what I mean. Im currently working on a video dissecting these bastards per section while showing my work in comparison. Wish me luck.

The Unlucky Tug recently put out a two hour long video talking about the real life basis for all of the RWS characters.

Also, today was the first day of Awdry Extravaganza 4. A yearly celebration of Wilbert Awdry, and his works, hosted by the Talyllyn Railway. I woke up late but managed to catch some trains on the Railway's webcam. The big happening was newly built Corris Railway No. 10 was dressed as Sir Handel this year. Talyllyn had the honor of wearing the infamous Nic Cage face while "Sir Handel" got a new face based on the story Steam Roller. Sir Haydn wore his old face with an eyepatch which is a reference to an event in the early 80's where "Sir Handel" hit a tree branch and the crew on the Talyllyn had to bandage him up. This was later turned into a story by Christopher Awdry.

Talyllyn is officially 160 years old, which means that Skarloey is also 160. IMO without this little locomotive the RWS/TV series wouldn't be as popular as it is. The Skarloey Railway stories are some of the best in my (biased) opinion.

Happy birthday to Talyllyn & Skarloey!

Late, but October 9th earlier this year marked the 40th anniversary of Thomas & Friends.

To this day, the classic era remains one of the best children's shows ever made and should be mandatory watching for all kids today (forget the brain rot slop that's been pushed for the last near decade).

My nephews gotten into Thomas (the normal little kid way, not the stunted manchild way thankfully). I'm going to try and get him Henry, he was always my favorite. I got to ask though when did the Thomas stuff get so expensive and high detailed?

I remember the Chinese lead-painted ones we had being not that costly and never this good looking.

It's always been expensive, and the detail is thanks to 20+ years' worth of innovation in toymaking. I remember the Learning Curve stuff being pretty expensive, so you must have had knockoffs (even though Learning Curve had a recall for lead paint).
