Remember when Phil called to book an appointment to get his greasy balding hair cut, but learnt that his regular hairdresser had relocated to a far off place? Instead of accepting the change, he drove out of his way some lengthy distance outside his comfort zone to have his previous woman do his hair. Kinda creepy. It's not like his hair requires expert care. He probably craves those real-life relationships, or wants to keep his options with women open, or it appealed to his propensity to blow money.
I don't think Phil craves any sort of real-life relationship, it's part of why Khet was such a perfect fit for him/a large part of why things didn't work with soulmaid 1.0. Leanna wanted to actively go out and do things and not just sit around in the snort fort, she even dared to invite people over while Phil cowered in his office.
Phil's comfort zone more or less ends at the front door of his condo, to the point he seems unwilling to even interact with delivery drivers. But Phil is also a creature of habit and in general seems pretty afraid of change. It's why he tends to be several years behind any streamer trends, part of why he never upgrades his technology etc. All that being said, it's not impossible he'll make changes around his routine, but without some sort of outside pressure, I don't think one of those changes is seeing a therapist. I guess seeing a therapist online is technically an option so he can stay in the comfort of the snort fort, but again, I just don't think the desire is there.
Let's not forget Philip is a genuine eye-talian. Or at least he desires to be regarded as one. In an old vlog, Phil displays a painting of an Italian countryside hanging above his bed, which he assures us is not authentic. lol, what a perfect analogy. In other vlogs, he's sporting a tough-guy leather jacket and wearing a chain around his neck. I don't know if he's spoken at any great length about Tony Soprano or Frasier Crane, but there are curious parallels between him and those fictional egomaniac protagonists
I don't know if he's ever technically compared himself to Tony Soprano, but he's definitely alluded to it, or at least the generic "tough mobster" style persona.
I can totally envision him actively seeking out a female psychiatrist to drive a wedge between the bothersome wife and to roleplay some more as being the emotionally complex cool Tony Soprano. Considering that Phil's physical and mental health is declining by the day, I can imagine one bad turn would be enough to trigger a desperate desire to be repaired, and would go about it in his trademark oddball approach.
I'm genuinely not sure if he sees Khet as bothersome, or if he's believing his own delusions about them being soulmates. Given that he is shamelessly showing her off on stream and still acting like she's a trophy wife, I'm inclined to think he believes it. While Phil sometimes will lean on depression or other "emotionally complex" things, it's usually to excuse past behavior. He's way more likely to spend 40+ minutes insisting that he's happy and successful because his pride rarely lets him admit otherwise. Even when he is crying about being depressed, if someone in chat says he should get help or make a change, he'll switch gears and get defensive and talk about how he's never been more successful/happy/etc. If the message comes up at the right time, he'll literally do it in the same breath as when he was begging about some sort of reemergency or talking about his dark days. Phil is strange in that he both loves being the victim, but is too prideful to let people think he's unhappy.
I think whenever he has a bad turn, Phil becomes his own psychiatrist/hype man and just starts talking up how great his life is until he believes it. Phil is an awful liar, but he's good at convincing dents, and that includes himself.
It's definitely something I'd gladly take the L on because, knowing Phil, he wouldn't be able to keep it to himself and would sperg out if his psychiatrist dared to disagree with him, but he'd also overshare if it went well (or if he thought it was going well) and basically recap the sessions for us and give us another warped look into his mind. But I'm not gonna be holding my breath that it actually happens.
