THQ Nordic’s 8chan Q&A - And the salt mines of ResetEra

As expected, Jim Sterling gives us the coldest take yet:

Sterling, isn't Youtube currently facing advertiser backlash from for hosting sexually suggestive videos of young girls? Are you sure you want to be throwing this particular stone in your glass house?

Also, if 8chan has as much porn as you say, why hasn't it been taken down? If the feds can get backpage for the far lesser crime of prostitution, they could get 8chan.
I guess he doesn't realize the hypocrisy of hosting all of his videos on a site where child pornography and exploitation has been pretty much ignored by Youtube for years now. Gotta stay mad somehow while condescendingly explaining to a company how dumb they are.

This screaming tard may be threadworthy himself.

He joins in the sperging every time some new "controversy" comes up but other than that there's not really anything noteworthy or special about him.

Also, if 8chan has as much porn as you say, why hasn't it been taken down? If the feds can get backpage for the far lesser crime of prostitution, they could get 8chan.

Exceptional individuals declared the feds compromised after they refused to arrest all of GaymerGay so they'd probably just answer with that if you asked.

SJW retardation aside, this is a complete self-own on THQ's part.

Putting aside whatever reputation 8chan made for itself and how much it matches up to reality, doing an official AMA on a site that not only has zero reach (because Google de-listing), but also has a negligible userbase and zero good coverage is just dumb and useless.

At best, you gain nothing, at worst.. well..

Someone's getting fired over this, and it won't be because of SJWs.

The way I see, THQ is basically doing corporate version of this meme:

Some 57 year man in marketing: "What is the platform do all the teenagers use these days? That chan site? Do an AMA on that."

Really, this whole thing should have been nothing more than a funny headline that we all had a laugh at, but the Blue Checkmarks had to loose their shit over it and make mountains out of molehills again.

Except they decided the "cool" way to blend with the fellow kids was to offer them some fine free crack cocaine lol I don't care about any of this but if a person can't see the error in judgment in THQ's decision-making, there's nothing left to say here.

At best, you gain nothing

Except they didn't gain nothing. They went from a company most people forgot even existed into one that's dominated gaming news sites and social media posts since this first took off. On top of that they now also have an army of useful idiots (your William Usher's and the like) who are gonna support and buy their products now to "own" the idiots on the other side throwing a fit over it and threatening a boycott.

at worst.. well..

They're not gonna lose much of anything. You gotta be a truly awful company (EA, Ubisoft, etc) before people are gonna start actively boycotting your products. THQ is a fucking nobody with just this one controversy to their name, only the most exceptional of individuals are actively going to boycott all of their products over it and most of them weren't even buying their games anyway. Take for example the dumb bitch a few pages back whose way of owning THQ was removing one of their games from her Steam wishlist or the pathetic Change.org petition they made which can't even crack 30 signatures (https://www.change.org/p/thq-nordic...-should-take-firm-action-after-8chan-incident)

We'll see how it works, although I think there's something to that. I think there actually is probably money not only in ignoring SJWs, but actually weaponizing their outrage as free advertisements, because despite their dumb belief that they screech for a silent majority, most people utterly detest them and will buy shit that pisses them off, much as angry fundies picketing a movie sells tickets.

Youtube is woke and loves diversitybux, 8chan is where the evil gamergate nazis went. It's the "no bad actions only bad targets" deal again.

While THQ has gotten some spergs that go "I'm removing THQ products from my wishlist and Steam" along with people like Sean_Jen and Jim Sterling making any sort of hot take, we'll also get some /v/ anon spergs and the like buying to spite spergs on the other side. Beyond all this shit storm, most other gamers likely aren't gonna care much about the screeching beyond saying "ouch" while waiting for the next THQ Nordic game.

I doubt brand engagement on *chans is significant in any measure, which is why an 8chan AMA makes no sense to begin with. Do you honestly think even some 10 anons will buy their games directly because of this whole debacle? I'm doubtful.

And even if there is some sort of effect, would it reach 1 thousand or any other number which would even mean something minimally interesting to THQ? Highly unlikely.

I guess they thought maybe it was "free advertising" and would do no harm. I could see that, even if it was a big mistake.

I also said "the like". Pretty much implying some of the 8chan /v/ spergs could also sulk to other hugboxes along with any spergs on the other side of Twitter wanting to spite buy if they weren't too assblasted by the apology. Even then, an 8Chan AMA doesn't make much sense not just because of the number of people on that board but also because it'll end up having shitpost and the like.

Still, it's all more or less free advertising since it means they tried to reach out on a site and it gotten them advertising in a way they didn't want.

The FBI have run one of the biggest pedophile sharing networks on the internet at one point, it's no stretch that they don't shut 8chan down because it may give them leads. I hung out there for a long time. And nothing serious has ever come up that hasn't been the same as something you'd see on /b/ on 4chan for 5 minutes before it got taken down. Or imgur if you did a random image search. Or youtube if you happened to click on the wrong links.

As far as can see, basically 8ch is considered toxic because it's associated with Gamergate therefore Altright therefore Trump therefore Nazis.
All the while places like NeoGAF were known as pedo hangouts and traders and they were fine.

They always shield the pedos in their own ranks while saying their idealogical enemies are rife with pedos. Basically it's just a method of attack for them.

I keep saying "ouch" because they keep pushing back Biomutant. I just wanna be a fuzzball of mutated fury.
