Don't be simple. It may be blindness (or nihilism, serious or momentary) in some cases, but in fact this is both pragmatic and reality-based. No one thinks anyone in politics is pure, true, and honest 100% of every minute of every day. Even Jimmy Carter, bless his heart, the closest thing to an earnestly good person heading a nation in the entire history of ever, admitted that he had sinned "in his heart." And his standards are high and pure and true - most pols (and everyone else) don't come anywhere close morally and honor-wise, yet think they're more than upright (or don't think about it at all, except to perform it). Yes, wow, fallible people are fallible; power corrupts/attracts corrupt people; politics attracts folks who live by power-plays and horse-trading and have thin, low-valued souls. Quick, someone alert the media!

Anyone with a brain knows humans are fallible, and moreover that finding someone whose every position on every single thing perfectly aligns with your own is unlikely (more likely you shift yours to match those of the charismatic leader/group you have a political crush on).

Of course, that's in America, where we have choices, even if the choices are not perfect, organic, or sometimes even good.

However, although imperfect, that beats certain other places, where not only do you have no choices, but under penalty of death and destruction you either swallow the pill and re-wire your brain, turning yourself into a true automaton believer NPC from an early/mid-20th century dystopian novel, or you just live a life pretending you are, head down, under the radar wherever possible.

Same as it ever was, and why America exists. This country was founded specifically to be free from (a certain type of) tyranny. As humans, there's always that danger of corruption lurking amongst men (I mean humans) and any human-designed system. But comparing America and our fucked-up-ness to literal tyrannies* - tyrannies by design, not mere opportunism - is a fucking joke.

You haven't ever really irritated me, because nothing you say ever says anything so I skimmmm. You get under some people's skins, clearly, but other than your avatar, which has some eye-catching elements, I haven't ever found anything there to think about. You're like orange noise - kind of discordant, I guess, but essentially background.

*lol, even though I don't use this word, my spellchecker changed "tyrannies" to "trannies." Hi, big brother! (Topical!)

Beautiful. Maybe not the best place to live, but better than shanghai.
Btw Taiwan and South Korea rebuilt themselves into developed, first world countries with a GDP per capita that is almost triple of china's.
