Tiger handhelds making a comeback - Because '90s nostalgia

You missed what I was getting at, and that is partly my fault, so I'll clarify: The concept of the Game.com and its titles are solid. At the time of its release, Personal Organizers and Palm Computers were all the rage so the concept of one that could play actual video games was kind of a naturally good idea. Similarly, they got the licensing for twelve fucktons of good games, and you can see a core framework in many of them that could work if it weren't for one fundamental problem:

I agree, I just wanted to bitch about the damn thing. Though it could be said that a lot of things would be good if they weren't terrible and made by retards on the cheap. I still like it as a study in awful.

I'm curious about their licensing agreement, I get the feeling that they had something pretty broad already in place that allowed them to put out games like RE2 and Mortal Kombat for the system. Googling "tiger handheld resident evil 2" gave me this.

Same with Mortal Kombat Trilogy, also available as a stand-alone.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park

It also applies to Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Centipede, Frogger, Sonic but not Fighters Megamix, Batman & Robin, which I feel the need to include a picture of because of the (optional) joystick,

and Duke Nukem, must post the picture because this one is even better,

wtf I love Tiger Electronics now.

That is fucking retarded.

I love it.

You know what would be great? Tiger handheld designs, with comfortable D-pads and buttons, but just running NES-on-a-chip roms. Capcom will license their games out to anyone, so just take Tiger's Mega Man 2:

Change out the buttons to more NES-style ones, and slap in one of those NES-on-a-chip things that are worth pennies. Even the cheapest ones on Wish.com are fairly competent little machines that seem to use old recycled dumbphone screens, so I can't imagine it'd really cost much more today to do that than remake the LCD games of yesteryear.

LCD games are, technically speaking, just repurposed calculator tech, but with characters instead of numbers and different functions with different actions. That's been cheap to produce since before I was even born, but today, there's no good reason to do that. Christ almighty, even the terrible fitness trackers on Wish for a few bucks manage to have full-color OLED displays.

It may sound stupid (because it is), but a friend of mine was actually trying to mod the shit out of Game.com emulation for a bit, trying to see if it was possible to un-fuck how some of the games ran, similar to the Star Fox Super FX Overclock.

Ultimately it proved basically impossible because the games were optimized (such as it were) for the incredibly shitty hardware.
