Honestly, the way psychological and psychiatric terminology have been so bastardized makes me really sad for the people that have pursued treatment for legit disorders and it helped them.
A friend from college went through an actual abusive relationship (as in verbal/physical violence) and was left being a shell of her former self, not wanting to eat, not wanting to go outside, afraid of being alone at home, with panic attacks and suividal ideations, but going to therapy + psychiatry is what helped her work through all of that shit and get out of the hole she was in.
I'm increasingly worried by how common it has become to consider getting treatment "paying for a friend", "being fed happy pills", etc, because it will discourage people with actual disorders/legit traumas from seeking help. I know part of this is because the US is full of horrible charlatans that don't actually care and will just feed you meds and tell you you're valid, but actual professionals aren't meant to be that way. But being ill is either a cute label you slap on yourself to justify horrible behavior and life choices (zoomers and shit libs) or something that isn't real and you need to get over it you damn pussy ("based and redpilled" bros)
Dunno dude, it's really sad and worries me a lot.
