Instagram tells is pretty decent in regards to the type of permitted stuff. Ive never used TikTok so I can't compare it but it's a strong sentiment among users that Instagram users are the most racist of the shortform platforms. Instagram lets you post gifs in comments on reels and it's pretty common to see people spelling out nigger in the comments with gifs or uncle Ruckus of on the "I'm a fat queer person of color" type reels. I think because of Instagrams algorithm all the accounts that would normally have comments off or policed can't turn them off without engagement cratering so on reels of fatties or disabled people there 80% of comments are insults to 20% of asspats. Content is also very permissive there's plenty of cartel videos, car crashes, reels of blacktivity who the usual suspects comments, and plenty of drug addicts being harassed by drones in cities.
...i suddenly love meta now? based?

So now Trump is going to help save TikTok? I had to go and do some research on how this ban started;
Taken from AP News because I'm lazy. I bias-checked AP and it came back as "highly factual" with a slight left-center bias, so I'll just ignore the "left" bits.

July 2020
President Donald Trump says he is considering banning TikTok as retaliation for China’s alleged mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

August 2020
Trump issues a sweeping but vague executive order banning American companies from any “transaction” with ByteDance and its subsidiaries, including TikTok. Several days later, he issues a second order demanding that ByteDance divest itself of TikTok’s U.S. operations within 90 days.

November 2020
Joe Biden is elected president. He doesn’t offer new policy on TikTok and won’t take office until January, but Trump’s plans to force a sale of TikTok start to unravel anyway. The Trump administration extends the deadlines it had imposed on ByteDance and TikTok and eventually lets them slide altogether.

February 2021
Newly sworn-in President Joe Biden postpones the legal cases involving Trump’s plan to ban TikTok, effectively bringing them to a halt.

March 2024
A bill to ban TikTok or force its sale to a U.S. company gathers steam in Congress. TikTok brings dozens of its creators to Washington to tell lawmakers to back off, while emphasizing changes the company has made to protect user data. TikTok also annoys legislators by sending notifications to users urging them to “speak up now” or risk seeing TikTok banned; users then flood congressional offices with calls.

The House of Representatives passes the TikTok ban-or-sell bill.

June 2024
Former President Donald Trump joins TikTok and begins posting campaign-related content.

July 2024
Vice President Kamala Harris joins TikTok and also begins posting campaign-related material.

Dec. 6, 2024
A federal appeals court panel unanimously upheld a law that could lead to a ban on TikTok, handing a resounding defeat to the popular social media platform as it fights for its survival in the U.S. The panel of judges rebuffed the company’s challenge of the statute, which it argued had ran afoul of the First Amendment.

Dec. 27, 2024
President-elect Donald Trump asked the Supreme Court to pause the potential TikTok ban from going into effect until his administration can pursue a “political resolution” to the issue.

Jan. 17, 2025
The Supreme Court unanimously upheld the federal law banning TikTok beginning unless it’s sold by its China-based parent company, holding that the risk to national security posed by its ties to China overcomes concerns about limiting speech by the app.
I'm confused now. Why is he trying to save TikTok? Just let it die. What's also weird to me is despite having a major hard-on for trying to ban the app, he joined the app in June of last year to campaign. Why sign up for the very thing you want to ban? Like come on, I am so disappointed now. I was hoping he would let the ban stay.

He told you why: "With our approval, it is worth hundreds of billions of dollars - maybe trillions."
Fucking money. Of course. I didn't get very far into reading his message, so I missed that bit.

Edit: goddammit they restored TikTok in the US. Should've kept it blocked to wean the zoomers off of it.

So what happens now? Will the ban be permanent if they refuse Trump's offer? Will the the usual suspects give any props to Trump or will they conveniently ignore his involvement? Will the thousands of American rapefugees leave Rednote and return to TikTok? Is ANY of this worth this much attention? Was this all just a huge waste of time?

Listen, if you post on this website and want Tik Tok banned in any way, you are a giant niggerfaggot and should swallow a bullet.

The whole reason the ban went through is because anti-Israel posts started to go viral on Tik Tok and of course AIPAC couldn't let that happen (I say this as an Israel supporter). The ban sat in congress not moving anywhere for 3 fucking years and then October 7th happened and all of a sudden it sailed through and was signed by Biden in no time. And of course the larger powers that want to curtail online speech are all for it even if they don't give a shit about Israel. It's all about censorship and the people trying to censor you aren't in fucking China, they're right here in America working in the intelligence agencies and the federal bureaucracy.

The enemy is right here at home. It ain't in motherfucking Shanghai. The people that want to control you are right next door. If you haven't figured that out then there's no help for you.

Is this the first act of retributory terrorism conducted by a communist braiwashing app victim?

TikTok ban cited by man suspected of setting fire to US congressman's office in Fond du Lac
(Archive)

FOND DU LAC – A 19-year-old man accused of setting fire to a building in Fond du Lac early Sunday that included Republican U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman's office cited the TikTok ban as a motive in the incident, according to authorities.

The Fond du Lac Police Department said the Menasha man was arrested after being found near a strip mall, 525 N. Peters Ave., that contained Grothman's district office.

Trump has sold out US national security so he can look cool to zoomers faggots. He’s not even in office yet and he’s a crushing disappointment.

Your average right winger really is fucking stupid.

Imagine thinking that shutting down Tik Tok is a matter of "national security". I mean, could anyone really make that case in detail and lay down some solid facts as to why the very security of America depends on closing down an app that serves up videos of sluts dancing?

Or are we forgetting about the split between the two versions of the app and the content they pushed separately?

One openly pushing military propaganda for China and nationalism for China.
And the other that was pushing societal rotting BS like all those different "challenges" and the Kia Boys.
Or all this "Genderqueer" propaganda.

Plus didn't you already prove you really don't care about free speech?

But then again, you're some barely used account that came in to type all these goddamn paragraphs, in mostly lowercase, to screech about how anybody laughing about this is a hypocrite.
Understand that I wrote that for another place and didn't feel like re-writing it.

As for the points about china propoganda, how about just ignore it? And about American, ignore it. Why now did it become important? That's what I'm trying to solve.
And what do you mean, I don't care about free speech? I'm running down what the reason is behind this claiming this isn't unconstitutional. -Riaa copyrights etc
Again, I should have just screenshotted the post instead of copy-pasting it here.

What else I want to say on my account that doesntt have enough upboats to be considered seriuos, is that most people, the ones saying the enemy isn't shanghai, are right.

Zoomers mostly never enjoyed a site without free speech being shut down on it. Myspace was before that. Everyone was ushered off to zuck cuckerburg's site and they all stupidely, happily went and did it. Myspace was good becase they didn't, ask for your personal information, and there was one thing I remember on myspace thats not on facebook. you could write articles and they appeared next to your user introduction in a section. you could read everything someone had wrote, from newest to oldest; in that order, without having to scroll past the 100's of comments in them to as well. It was more not-personal too.

Then facebook became censorship haven. Something came out, they could instead of writing articles, make little video clips, actually long ones; people keep making fun of the site becauwe of that i dont know why when its really not true. And have more of a myspace type of site and account to go and enjoy. Then the government actually moved in and forced them to shut down.

Its the same thing as every other time something got shut down, like Napster, Myspace, could name a few more too. Suddenly somothing you enjoyed, disappeared. Everyone mostly konws about the Napster arguements so thats what it is, the same blueprint. Except this time, it's another country they couldn't force or sue out of court to censor. BTW, thats what happened to Napster. It's a lie that downloading mp3's became illegal. Rememeber that whole, it's not the site's fault users did whatever they did and that whole, not spying on you thing, how you're not allowed to hack on the internet because, that's ILLEGAL.

Now everybody is seal clapping over cuckerburg saying everyone is Virtue Signalling when he removed fact checking. OMG the gall from that guy., he implemented it then saying that?

I dont remember exactly how i was going to end this or the point i was going ot make but i'lll leave this here for info, and to show how anyone who reee's muh spying muh Chyna is a hypocritical cuck.

I guess the CapCut app is also owned by ByteDance? Been seeing some talk from shit-tier YouTube shorts creators that can't use CapCut anymore.
Dude, CapCut sucks. I used to use it. It was supposed to save the videos to my account, but even though I logged into it, my videos won't show up. Anyone relying on trash like CapCut should learn not to trust it by now.
