It's amazing how much stupid shit Buckley did unironically. It'd be like watching Seth MacFarlane try to turn the Church of the Holy Fonz into a dramatic storyline, or expecting people to cry with this clip.

Buckley just can't write serious drama. The vast majority of his other comics are goofy, wacky, "random" shit and he just can't transition that well.

Yeeeah, I remember reading the whole series..that twist was pointless and jarring, and then his random bizarre universe-ending/story-ending twist where the MC goes forward in time and ends up dying. For no decent reason mind you, just to kill the story.
Then reboots the whole thing later as a superhero comic, also for no explicable reason.
