Tim had two guests, Kash Patel for the majority of the episode, with the final portion for the much-promoted Donald Trump interview.
Hannah, Luke, & Phil, were the co-hosts, but were banished to the side for the Trump segment.
*The panel asks Kash about Donald Trump's positions on pardoning Julian Assange, & actions taken against Assange during the Trump administration: 1:15:56-1:26:30
-Tim billed this as being his episode with Donald Trump, but it seems the MAGA candidate outsourced most of the interview to an Indian. Tim assures us that he has 30 minutes, at the end, to speak with Trump:
-Tim remarks that the two big issues on voters' minds are "economics...immigration", & culture war issues are just distractions from those. Guess that remark from RFK Jr. hit a little too close to home:
-Luke brings up genuine criticism of Donald Trump failing to audit the Federal Reserve,
as was promised during the 2016 campaign, only to spend even more money than before. Kash & Tim make excuses, then move to deflecting onto Joe Biden's unfulfilled promises:
-Phil argues we do not need bases in other nations, because "the amount of air power...the capabilities of the navy" makes having overseas posts unnecessary. As if all the aircraft carriers, & planes, used by the United States in its military operations deploy in such a timely manner exclusively from U.S. soil:
-Phil asks how Trump shall get spending under control, to which Kash assures him that there is a plan. He cannot actually discuss the plan, but trust him, the plan is "pretty awesome". In short, trust the plan, chaps. Where have I heard this sort of thing before?:
-The first question sets up what this interview was like. Trump remains nebulous on his policies, & Tim rushes through to the next subject, instead of pinning him down on specifics. Trump just says that "local police" will "really" be doing the deporting of almost 20 million illegal immigrants, before veering into police needing greater levels of qualified immunity & respect, in the face of mass shop lifting. Also, I am saddened that Trump did not cite Operation Wetback by name, when he mentioned that particular Eisenhower policy:
-I am glad Tim can, at least, admit his bias during the interview, so we know it shall be softball, instead of hard-hitting holding truth to power:
-Tim asks Trump if he shall pardon Julian Assange, Trump does not respond but hints that it would be part of the speech he gave at the Libertarian National Convention. Trump says he placed the speech on hold to have the interview with Tim, & how his "guys" praised Tim as "very respected". Tim shall be insufferable with this inflation of his ego:
Bonus Bits:
-We have another chance to compare Tim's height versus a known measurement. After concluding the interview, the tape keeps rolling & captures both men standing upright. While it does not give a full view, Tim's lower lip comes to about where Trump's tie knot is:
Trump's height has been debated, but does settle around 6 feet (1.82 m) tall, give or take an inch, with some going for 5' 11" (1.8 m) up to 6' 3" (1.9 m). Tim claims to be 5' 10" (1.79 m). You are free to guess how honest Tim is being with his height.
