THQ just shadow dropped the Titan Quest 2 in early access. So far the reviews are tending to positive as usual for the typical media release. Fextralife seems to be the only one currently pointing out a few negatives but even then it is just a pale attempt at not seeming biased to continue receiving media keys to review.

At the moment they don't have ACT 1 finished, there is only 4 mastery classes with a handful of new changes including modding your skills as you level them up. Supposedly the content updates will be quarterly adding more to the game with a full release next year likely towards Christmas (speculation on my part).

No word on the multiplayer aspect yet which is a core thing for most ARPG's and no mention of a GOG release yet it's not even a wishlist item on the GOG store either.

No DRM as it's THQ release so i may just wait for the inevitable fitgirl repack to give it a go. To entice beta testers they've also given it a 20% price drop for a week, which is kinda neat but the Fextralife review put me off purchasing it even as a EA game. Oh and it apparently runs like dog shit because of UE5, won't really know until i pirate it.

poeniggers will bitch it's not like poe 2
titans quest players will bitch it's not like titans quest 1
regular niggercattle won't give a shit

so yeah, probably not much sales but won't be a flop, if it's UE5 then no mods so that's a negative.
Meanwhile us Grim Dawn chads stay winning.
I will never forgive THQ for ruining the loot drop chances in TQ after the Ragnarök DLC.

I've not heard anything further about GD2 but it was another masterpiece as well.

I didn't know to many POE people that played TQ at all so unless they are desperate because POE2 is still shit i can't imagine many of them jumping ship for it. TQ1 has this epic feel to it even if it's 40% similar to the original i'll be happy, but i'm more concerned about the class viability in the long run to early to tell i suppose.

Does it have that quaint loot system TQ1 had? Enemies coming at you equipped with the gear they drop and dropping their entire inventory on death, "animals" and other non-sentient monsters only dropping appropriate things like upgrade and crafting materials? That was a cool RPG system, wish more modern games had something similar. I also remember it being one of TQ1's selling points/points of differentiation from all other Diabloid games of its time. Such a small thing, but it really added to the "feel" of TQ, and something I really missed when going through Grim Dawn. The system is still in place in that, by the way, code-wise, it's just not being used, Crate decided against it for some reason.
Alas, it's probably something that's really hard to sell to a corpo gamedev manager person if you're a dev/game designer, because it requires extra work to implement, as opposed to everything dropping whatever.

They're releasing a new expansion instead for Grim Dawn.

It seems really light on content. While opinions on it are divided, PoE 2 at least had endgame on release with a fair amount of replayability, and a ton of content otherwise. And for those who wants a more vanilla ARPG, there's already Last Epoch.
TitanQuest 2 feels like it's 15 years too late

Game is selling well and is fun! I think its gonna be really great when its finished :) It feels a lot better than the first one

It's fun, but some abilities are really strong right now. Ice shards specifically are a little crazy with homing and piercing.
Spoiler for one of the story bosses, just showcasing how fast I can kill it without anything special for gear.

Doing all the quests and clearing all the fog of war took around 6 hours, it's only the prologue and the first act right now. It's fun enough, something to keep myself from busy waiting for the Grim Dawn expansion and not burn out getting every class combo to 100 there.

What do you like about it currently compared to the first one?
Combat, specifically melee, feels all lot heavier and satisfying in the early game. You get more abilities to fuck with much quicker than in the original, so more buttons to press makes it a lot easier to get through the early game, which was always a slog in the original. The story is told in a much more engaging manner as well. Art direction is just as good, if not a little better than TQ1.

Its kind of funny (and I think a good strategy) on how THQ released the game. Releasing the game in EA for $30, AND THEN on top of that dropping the price to $24 during the first week, basically means you can get the game for 50% off the final price when the game exits EA ($50) So if any one has massive FOMO, or knows they like Titan Quest or ARPG, its worth to buy it now and then just sit on it while the dev continue to work on it.

Plus it kind of helps THQ gauge how the game is doing and what needs to be improved. Now there is a risk that THQ might get some money, realize its not worth to still work on, and make a crappy "1.0" patch but with the current market success I really don't see that happening.
