Commissioned an exceptionally cheap and nasty lathe yesterday. I spent several hours adjusting, tuning and tweaking the thing to get the best I could out of it, and it doesn't even cut straight. Awful, awful thing.
I should note that it's not mine, one of the academic staff at the university I work for was given the task of kitting out a workshop, and elected to do so without any kind of input from someone who knew what they were doing.
As a result, to accompany this horrible little lathe, there is also a cnc plasma cutter that will have to be sent back, because there is neither the room, the extraction, the power feed nor the optical shielding available for it.
Strangely enough, he seemed to get the milling machines right, though.
