Today I have... Thread.

Took a bowl of candy to work even though i was off, wore a hybrid Dracula/jack skelington costume, everyone liked it so we made a tik tok and an took an instagram pic with a girl at work (her accounts on those sites i don't use them)

Watching movies for my own little horrothon too bad spook seasons almost over...oh well.

Today I dusted off the old jukebox there was an open house and let those house shoppers nextdoor enjoy my taste in music. My labrador failed to scare them off. Sadly she's a good girl and is to cute

Today I got two kittens -- Gracie and Lizzy. I don't have pictures posted yet, but as soon as I do, I'll post them. They've been racing around all day and it's just now that they're finally laying down to sleep. I have a feeling Lizzy especially is going to be a handfeel.

(I'm especially looking forward to see the reaction from my older two cats, Annie and Luci. Especially Annie, considering what a pistol SHE'S always been. 😃)

I've been dicking around with VMWare (specifically Workstation 16 Player) for the past few days since I can't use PlayOnLinux anymore for any Windows programs/games. See this nightmare as to why, but long story short, a bunch of dependencies got removed since Debian 11, so .deb packages that were made with those dependencies no longer work (e.g. python-wxgtk2.8/3.0)

The only issue I've ever had with POL and wine in general were old Win95/98 games that needed a "256 colors" display in order to run, otherwise they would just crash. So after reading a bunch of guides, I got Windows 95 to run on VMWare. Kinda felt nostalgic during the process considering I grew up with 95 from 5th grade to (I think) around the time I was in high school, but damn I completely forgot how convoluted the install process was (Boot from floppy, use fdisk, then install from cd). I was able to set the display for 256 colors (after installing VMWare Tools of course), but now testing out one of the games it crashed because of sound card issues, so now i need to figure out that whole mess.

Im reading a project report from a Ugandan Auditing firm and my brain keeps going into the voice of "eat the poo poo" pastor as it is narrating what im reading.. making my laugh and chuckle at whats really a boring read

Today I did my thing of not sleeping, and when I gave up and got out of bed at 5am, the entire house reeked of burning hops because female housemate has got herself an air still and left it running all night in an attempt to make homemade whiskey. So far she's not having much by way of success and the smell has permeated everything. I suppose it wouldn't be too bad if I liked the smell of hops more; it's not precisely unpleasant, but it smells like everything's been doused in litres of boiling beer and it's very overwhelming. She's also broken her hydrometer with brutal carelessness and the ex lab tech in me is crying softly over broken instruments.

In other news, the assignment that was due by midnight last night has been completely swallowed by my computer. As best I can tell it was saved into the temporary files folder instead of to the document or download folders, and when I ran certain basic drive maintenance programs a couple of days ago, it was wiped forever. Yay me!

So that's where I am right now. How are you lads and lasses going?

I broke something and needed help fixing it, so I figured I'd ask Reddit. They're good with this sort of stuff, right?

Well I needed to create an account to post a thread, and doing so prompted me with some subreddit recommendations. Damn, I didn't believe it was this bad. It's like the memes you see on /pol/ or whatever, but actually worse. Worse than the soyjack parodies. I must've spent like 10 minutes just staring at some of the comments before snapping out of it and closing that tab for good. Insane to think that place is "mainstream" in the current year.

Today I got my driver's license at the ripe age of... my early 30's.

In my defense, I have epilepsy and for a long time, just worked around not being able to drive. I live in an urban area and don't really need to drive. It's also nice never having to be the designated driver.

However a year or so ago, I kinda changed my mind and decided it might be worth it, in case I wanted to ever like rent a car and drive out to the mountains to go camping for a weekend or something.

So I had to get paperwork from my neurologist and jump through a bunch of hoops. But I did it.

I will probably continue to not drive, but I'm glad I got it. I've also kinda been considering getting a Crown Victoria just because they seem neat. But again, probably not as a day-to-day vehicle. I'll probably just stash it in a garage somewhere in the city.

Also lol I had to take driver's ed with the teenagers. Holy shit teenagers today are retarded. Were we this retarded when we were teenagers? Yes, we probably were. Still tho.

I installed the reddit app on my phone to occasionally read links from here. Since they're usually related to tranny nonsense, reddit's app keeps suggesting tranny subreddits to me.

At first I ignored them, but then I thought it'd be fun to shitpost (read: post spicy truths) to the subreddits to get banned from them.

Welp, mission accomplished, except the app keeps suggesting the same subreddits to me, the ones I'm banned from. Well fuck, uninstalling this nonsense.

Had dinner with the parents and brother's family for a birthday. Afterwards we packed ourselves into two cars and drove about looking at Christmas lights. A lovely evening was had by all.

Is this basically a standup thread? Cool.

Today I did house chores. Then I worked on three projects. Then I studied. My free time today is used reading up on lolcows and their origin stories.

Today I learned that when you have super spicy beef sticks, it's a really good idea to wash your hands thoroughly if you have to rub your eyes later. ... Wasn't fun.
Don't scratch your balls or stuff after using that ice hot stuff on sore muscles. Was less fun.

Day four of a spectacular stretch of disordered sleeping. No sleep last night but slept seventeen hours until 7pm before that so I don't even know how to keep track anymore.

This morning I stripped the hard furniture out of my rats' cage, dismantled it all, and gave it a good scrub. I can't even remember the last time I did that. It was manky to say the least. Then while the furniture was drying I hopped in the car and drove out to pick up a new friend, a argente saddleback girl that someone was giving away on Gumtree because she was being bullied by her cagemate. I was told that this little rat is seven months old, but if that's indeed the case, I legitimately think I might have acquired a dwarf. She's so tiny! She's about the same size and proportions as a six week old.

I took her home and spent an hour sitting in the bathtub, trying to do introductions between her and my old girls. Nothing happened except I got urinated on. That was a bust, so I tried putting them in my picnic carrier. After an hour the new girl was cuddling and grooming at least one of the others, so I moved them all into the cage. And now my old girls are suddenly all against her, and the new girl has come out with the most epic displays of Little Man's Disease ever. She's marching right up to girls five times her weight and either demanding to be groomed or else all out picking a fight.

It's going to be an interesting couple of days in the rat cage. Here's hoping no blood gets drawn.

Today I became a grandmother.

My bad habit of collecting secondhand rats had finally, royally bit me on the arse. The new little rattie from my last post? The one her former owner swore was desexed? Just had a nice big litter of kittens. I'm not going to disturb her to count them right now, but there seems like at least a dozen odd wriggling little red beans.

Fuck. Fuck!

I've put a call out on my rodent groups for someone to lend me a maternity tub, but other than that, I have no clue what I'm doing.

EDIT: Found a tub. Got in my car to go pick it up and... my car wouldn't start. I managed to get a lift. Got the tub, transfered the litter. Dangerous Beans has had an even dozen dangerous little beans. She seems a little indignant about the tub, hopefully she'll get used to it quickly.

I'm up shit creek re: my car. Today just kept giving.
