I decided to see what Tony was up to recently, and found this very telling comment that I'd like to ramble about.

Tony basically confirms that at least from the mid-2010's onward, he had the kind of money that would allow him to rent an apartment in LA while also buying annual passes and working on his Some Jerk With a Camera videos "full-time". Tony's been making these videos since 2011 and, being generous and counting his One Movie Later reviews, Commentaries, "State of the Parks", and vlogs, has released a total of 113 videos over 9 and a half years, with his last major video being the one covering Tiana's Bayou Adventure on Sep 4, 2020. After this, he would devote all of his resources to his Escape From Vault Disney Podcast.

Given that only a couple of these videos broke 100k views and that he never took sponsorships, I have a feeling he did not receive a substantial amount of money from these videos, meaning most of his outgoing money has been saved up overtime from somewhere. I heard people in the early pages of this thread mention rumors of Tony having a trust fund, but it seems to have just been an unsubstantiated claim by @El Porko Fako that was taken as truth by others in the thread:

I also find it really amusing that Tony seems to despise rich people, but he's more than likely bleeding his rich mom dry while he has a year long vacation living in Los Angeles. Worthless trust fund baby.

With that being said, let me give my OWN unsubstantiated theory as to where this financial independence came from that is slightly more grounded. It was all thanks to his hit single "Sirius Black."

It may not look like it today but I remember that song being everywhere in Harry Potter fan circles. Hell, it was so well known that this 2007 reupload of a fan-made music video has over 4 times the views of Tony's most viewed video on Youtube.

So I could easily see the popularity of this song translating into good sales of both "Rage Against the Mundane" and his Harry Potter themed album "One Bad Muggle". Keep in mind, he published these albums through his mother's own record company, which meant he most likely got a majority of the earnings. If just a fifth of the people who watched that "Sirius Black" video bought an album, that's already over a million dollars going right to him and his family. "Rage Against the Mundane" was also his first album uploaded to iTunes, so he got in just as easy and instant purchases of music online was becoming viable.

All of this leads me to my biggest gripe about Tony, and that's his wasted potential. As an online "content creator", Tony was in a better position than ANY of his colleagues that he's worked with, including Doug Walker. But at the end of the day, the dude was never able to make a deadline, and he's admitted to this multiple times on his Twitter feed. Had Tony actually stuck to a schedule, he'd probably still have the resources to continue making the videos that "big part of him" still wants to make, but now he's downsized to a podcast and he STILL can't make deadlines and constantly goes weeks without an upload. I just hope he was smart enough to invest some of that money into something that can make passive income, otherwise at the rate he's going, he'll be scrounging for cash very soon.

I know a lot of people on KF look down upon taking stimulants, but speaking frankly, I think at least half or more of Tony's problems could of been avoided with a prescription for Adderall/Vyvanse.

This isn't really a good thing to get into. While it has legitimate uses for stuff like ADD/ADHD (although is massively prescribed even when it is not appropriate) and he might have that, you're not really supposed to be on that for much more than a year or two. You're supposed to develop coping habits so you can function as close to normally as possible without drugs and then get off them.

Vyvanse is a little safer but still, you shouldn't be depending on a pill when what you need is good habits. Both of those are good for stuff like cramming for exams, dealing with a chaotic sleep schedule, etc. but someone with no legitimate need for them just starts abusing them (yes even Vyvanse which was specially formulated to be less abusable). And eventually it's not much good for anything but obsessively cleaning your room and dumb speed freak shit like that.

While part of me wants to feel sorry for him, he's had absolutely every opportunity and second chance to not only live a successful life, but live it doing a career he has passion for. Now he's wasted all of it by never making the effort to improve his habits and work ethic. I don't think he'll still have a roof over his head within the next couple years.
