I liked TOOL a lot growing up. Should I bother listening to anything past Lateralus?

10,000 Days got a but of shit when it was released (Many fans we're convinced it was a fake album when it leaked) but it seemed to grow on people. Jambi, Wings for Marie/10,000 Days, The Pot, Rosetta Stoned are classics.

Get your autistic ratings ready cause here's some trivia: apparently if you tack Virginti Tres onto the end of Wings for Marie and combine it with 10,000 Days you get the true version of the song. Never been confirmed by the band but it sounds cool.

I'm listening to it now, having never listened to it before. I can say from the first song that Chinese Democracy, at least track 1, isn't shit. It sounds like a completely different band from the 90s, but to me that's sort of a boon because there's only one Guns 'n Roses song from their prior catalog I can tolerate, I hate almost all of their music.
I found it for sale at the local dollar store.
A dollar was too much.
Glad you liked it, though.

Edit:
Still annoyed that Tool won't release any of their music on streaming services.

Finally going into digital streaming is great too because that means we'll finally be able to get our hands on Salival for an actually reasonable price.
Jesus Christ, looking at it on Amazon, that album goes for as much as $260, for a used copy. If you want a new one, that's gonna be $400. Not even the first Slipknot album is that much.

They did today

I'm gonna be listening to them quite a bit over the next week because I never did much but all the spergs on various prog groups and fora I'm on fucking love Tool, so I'm finally able to make the plunge.

The album will be available digitally, and in a special Limited Edition physical package that includes a CD in a tri-fold Soft Pack Video Brochure featuring a 4" HD rechargeable screen with exclusive video footage, a USB charging cable, a 2 watt speaker and a 36 page insert book and MP3 download card.

Price for the CD: $44.98 (Amazon)

Damn.

Meh @ the new song. Maynard's voice isn't aging well and the whole thing sounds like an outtake from Lateralus (the most boring Tool album).

Used to listen to then when i finished HS, good lord most of the PPL that i knew that were fans we're complete Junkies or stoners that thought you got a higher meaning of life by taking drugs.

Still listen to them from time to time, i was not expecting a new album this year.

It's not bad or anything, but after 13 years of waiting I was kind of expecting something that I couldn't shuffle into the tracklist of Lateralus or 10,000 Days and not notice a difference. The leaked live tracks were more interesting than this single.
I do think the first 4 minutes sound a bit too much like Reflection, but from there on in its a total ride. The solo near the end is what really sets it ablaze

Yeah some songs from Eat The Elephant play at work and he sounds really weak on that album.

Most of their time in the past decade has been spent fighting lawsuits and not recording anything. What you're hearing is something that was mostly recorded in about a year.

A lot of it was, but I've been following their social media obsessively enough to know they've been jamming and working on songs for much longer than a year. Danny Carey's been promising the album was 6 months away for 4 years now and Adam Jones has been instagramming clips of their sessions nearly as long.

Has anyone been listing to new songs by TOOL? I love their lead singers voice! My brother let me have some of his old TOOL albums so I've been on a marathon ever since
