Pretty much this, from what I've seen in the English speaking sphere anyway (as far as I understand Japanese fandom has more tweens because of all the fan creations hitting popularity so it's kinda like Undertale in a sense).
Also I have literally no where else to post this site I found a while back but to give some thread some content, there's a Mastodon instance for English speaking Touhou fans that's pretty much just r/communism and tranny memes more so than anything relating to the franchise itself because of course it's fucking Mastodon.
The rules / code of conduct page is just full of -isms and weird trans headcanon themed images and that's not even getting into the users. I await the alt-right themed Touhou instance any day now...

gotta say, ZUN allowing fangames to launch on steam and console was a pretty good move, and damned if they aren't generally pretty high quality... now if only the rest of the community could match.
I sincerely believe a significant proportion, if not the majority, of the Touhou fandom has detached itself from the games and their canon a long time ago. The perpetually repeated statement 'Most Touhou fans have never played the games' is a self-evident truth, and even less have ever touched the official literature, which i would argue is the information-richest proportion of the franchise. As the actual original content doesn't function as the main attraction to the franchise, it is of no surprise that the schism has only deepened over the years.
A vast number of characters have been flanderized by the fanon to such an extent they are virtually unrecognizable from their original design, although this can be partially explained by the slow spread of our beloved alcoholics word regarding his creations, and often a general lack of information regarding a specific character.
As terrible as one could see the fandoms situation as, ZUN seems to be perfectly content in continuing to release his games for his own amusement, which is an arrangement i couldn't be more pleased with.
From what I've seen, it's because ZUN's characters are basically blank slates aside from one or two defining characteristics, allowing people to basically turn everything into their head canon fantasies. This also goes hand-in-hand with why a lot of Touhou fanstories end up being shipping stories of some kind.
This is also the same reason why certain Final Fantasy characters are more famous than others. Cloud, before the remake, was as developed as a character a shoe. Or even why Doomguy became so famous instead of his rivals who spoke too much.
Odd, nobody has yet mentioned the community's weird fixation with Reimu's armpits and the lesbo-rape fetish and forced shippings, shipping that will get you cast out of the community if you don't agree that "Reimu totally fucks Marisa" or some other bullshit (or at least the side of the community which doesn't play videogames and it's made out of outcasts from other communities). yukari still has the best theme.
and fangames tend to be completed, unlike the Sonic Fandom. I can't think of the last time a sonic fangame which was presented at SAGE was finished. (Even without being presented to SAGE, most just end up being abandoned)
Yep, he's even re-releasing his old games on steam now. For example, Touhou 9 is now available too, but I heard the online play is a bit messed up. Still, a better VS Shmup than the original Twinkle Star Sprites, whose pc port runs worse than in MAME lol.

It seems that the Touhou community (well fandom, really) is more self-policing than others. There is a particular divide between the people who actually play the games (or at least engage in the content), and those that kind of loiter around causing problems. Usually, the latter are universally condemned by the former. Additionally, any sort of other fandom "mixing" is also heavily panned (furry and MLP mashups are heavily downvoted on image sharing sites). Fan-made music is also top fucking notch (once you look past IOSYS and Innocent Key), shoutout to Alstroemeria Records, they've great gapless albums.

still, I cannot say anything new about this community. It has become stagnant and the funnier side is comprised of people who come from other fandoms, such as the FNAF, Undertale, MLP, Among us or Steven Universe's fandoms.

There's actual manga about the series that gives the girls personalities and character depth, but I'd rather make up my own canon about youkai getting buck broken up into several small pieces and used as a c'tan shards than read that boring shit

Yep. The Touhou fandom, despite the occasional oddity, is relatively sane compared to other fandoms. Sure, you can make fun of the coomers and their weird fetishes, but every fandom has those, so Touhou is nothing special in that regard.
Could you elaborate further for curiosity's sake? From what I know after she quit MLP she's sort of kept a lowish profile and giving lip service to the few charitable/nice things the mlp fandom has done. I remember her years ago trying to push some creation involving the solar system as girls but that never went anywhere from what I could tell. Other than that I really haven't heard anything, cancel culture or otherwise other than her husband's legacy being actively shit on by that laughable live action PPG remake.

You got it on the porn part. Some is just taking the legal age look characters and applying the porn treatment to them, and the less depraved types age up the loli types, and the most depraved types make stuff that could get you arrested if it was live action.
And yeah, have yet to to see Touhou meme stuff that was worse than "ok, what's the joke?" level, but some of the porn is definitely fucked up, while some of the crossover stuff will make you eyes roll pretty hard (the Metal Gear Solid/Touhou pictures I've seen were bizarre even by MGS standards, which is a fairly nutty series by itself).
And by "fap fuel chipers", the plot in most Touhou doujinshi is almost entirely pulled out of the writer's ass, with a few canon facts (and there isn't much) about the setting mentioned at most, which the characters being generic porn star stand ins for whatever the author wants you to beat off to, since the actual Touhou characters, going strictly by the games alone, have almost no personality themselves.

Looking through the docs, personally, I don't see anything that provides concrete proof that Jun knew he was 15. Combine that with the fact that many of the statements of the supposed victim were reported to be lies by him himself, I conclude that there's no good evidence that Jun is a pedophile.
That doesn't mean that he couldn't be one, this is the Touhou community after all. It's possible someone else could come forward who is more willing to accuse him, and I do find it kind of weird that the victim says that all of his own statements were just lies and an inside joke, but whatever. At the moment, though, no evidence.
Also the docs contain handwringing about him saying nigger which kinda turns me off.
