You know, considering my neck of the woods has dogfuckers by the truckload I was interested in coming in here and potentially having an interesting conversation about fantasy and real life and the moral implications involved with reading a story about zoophilia and actually acting on those urges. Maybe get a dash of Mr. Hands in there for good measure, too.

But then I see that we're apparently in the middle of the Pedophile Power Hour... so I'm just going to stand over here and watch this slow motion train wreck from a safe distance. Let me know when Chained Divinity is a smoldering heap of scrap and I'll cash in that rain check for "furries be like _______, but dogfuckers be all ________".

If I were to hazard a guess, his intent was to provide a personal account of struggling with his paraphilia and coming to terms with it with the conclusion that extreme fetishes are okay as long people can distinguish fantasy from reality. (Again, there’s the rub and a whole other can of worms)

He repeatedly states that many people with such taboo fetishes are conflicted and hate themselves because they know the harmful consequences if they were to act upon it irl, and the social rejection they may face by revealing themselves even though they haven’t acted upon it. He argues that it’s why they’re afraid to come out and seek help/support.

In a way, the backlash against his admission of zoophilia by many Kiwis as disgusting and wrong demonstrates that very stigma. It’s an emotionally charged issue that’s very susceptible to derailing.

Looking at this makes me want to violate the "Don't get offended rule". I won't but anyone who has your opinions @Chained Divinity is terrible. I work with kids and have numerous small cousins/cousins kids/friends kids. Anyone like you comes near them, there's a good chance I'm going to prison if you try anything.

I don't doubt that's what motivated it, but good God, why here? Of all places?

Lurkermouse makes a pretty good point above me in that I feel like to an extent paraphilias are interests that become "locked in" at certain stages in everyone's lives and it takes a little bit more than just telling yourself "no" to fully process the gravity of the situation. Society doesn't help in certain cases, and this is one of them.

The furry fandom is chock full of latent zoophilia and anyone that tells you otherwise is lying to you to save face. That attraction can be as vanilla as finding Krystal from Star Fox "cute", or it can be as intense as literally wanting to bang a horse in real life. I've met people from every possible category of zoophile over the many years I've spent online; some of them are people I'd call friends.

TranLord's case seems to be the variety with the most humility... but he kind of prefaced his case in the worst possible way, not to mention the fact that it was completely uncalled for and nobody asked him for his deeply personal opinion. I'm not exactly trying to condone his behavior or mindset, but you can't really deny that going "stories and artwork only" is the best solution from a utilitarian standpoint. What's kind of fucked up is that people in TranLord's position -- and this is why I can kind of sympathize with his type here -- is that they can never truly "win". Socially, he's a pariah for being attracted to animals, and among zoophiles his type aren't generally well-liked because they tend to cramp the community's animal-fucking lifestyles with their morals and standards.

That's assuming TranLord is being sincere in his post however, and not a ruse or a trollshield.

Socially, this topic is always a slippery slope because it often boils down to consent, and zoophiles are often compared to pedophiles in that regard. In fact, that very fucking thing happened in this thread and everything got derailed because of it.

When someone in the thread said to air out your laundry here they weren't being serious.

I'm just stunned that someone more baffling than tran made themselves known. At least tran had the sense to stop talking about it once he realised his error.

Oh, I'm in complete agreement. I missed where/when TranLord made that post but I think the gist of it is that he showed up spontaneously in the Vade thread, who is also a noted dogmongler. Not the best idea considering the nature of this forum. Clearly, it earned him his own self-posted Lolcow thread.

What Tranlord said could have been said much more effectively if he hadn't simply prefaced it as crudely as he had and didn't make any sort of references to himself. If your argument is sound, your own personal feelings and experiences are completely irrelevant. What he said is sound. People with certain paraphilias are victims, but just because they're victims of circumstances outside of their control does not immediately grant them sympathy.

Similarly, convicted felons.

If I had a nice house, lots of expensive electronics, jewelry, showy displays of wealth all over and I invite a friend over and the first thing he says is, "Oh I used to burglarize houses like this.", that would be fucking weird and would make me uncomfortable. It's not necessary to say that sort of thing, doubly so in context. Which is why felons generally don't do that or do their best not to let it be known to people with whom they want substantial relationships with.

Perhaps it was a dumb thing they did when they were kids and wanted money. Or it's something wrong in your head that you know is wrong and very seriously don't ever want to actually act upon, that's no reason to advertise it. That shows you don't know how to interact with people in the most basic sense, which only hurts you more when acting like an adult and being aware of other people's emotions and their thoughts is what helps you NOT look like a felon/dogfucker.

You don't say you're a dogfucker in the presence of people who you know will see that as abuse. Or the same thing about children/pre-teens. Arguing as adamantly as Divinity has about your philia only really proves that you don't understand that it is against the law and morally wrong.
